Shortest legal cut down length ?

I have a few model 75 cooey's and I think I wanna cut one down as short as I can go.
What length is it? I will have the front threaded 1/2x28 and the front sight punt back on might add a scout rail for shats and giggles

18+ inches for the barrel; 26+ inches overall.

If you cut any non-restricted it needs to be >18" or barrel becomess a prohibited device. A rimfire I believe has no minimum barrel length but must be above the minimum overall length, so if you want shorter you need to buy a manufactured barrel.

To be safe, cut the barrel to at least 18.5 inches. This way, you have a little allowance in case the tool bit slips

If you cut to 18 inches, and by some misfortune you cut it down to less than 18 inches, then you have just ruined a barrel.
