I just don't like the design. Having the charging handle on top with that carrying handle is a deal breaker. I think pretty much everyone wants a flat top design. I'm a believer that we will see the U.S.A. made Tavor in Canada for around $1700 fairly soon. I know it's restricted but I'm only a paper shooter so that is OK.

Irungun sell the USA made tavors already for around $2000.

Able to mount optics without looking so freaking ridiculous is one point for the tavor.
Also tavor being left hand shooting friendly is also a big plus for the tavor.

Let's be honest here, if tavor cost around the same as T97, how many people will buy the tavor and how many people will buy the T97?

The fact is, they don't cost the same. You can apply that model to anything. What if a BMW M5 base model was the same price as the loaded? Its a stupid question IMO.

To answer, if they were both in the $900-$1000 range I would buy both. I love the tavor and nothing beats it for speed reloads.

I just competed with mine in a PPC event that required flicking the safety on and off all the time. Wasn't an issue at all. Starting position was barrel down 45deg, left hand on the safety, so a quick flick and off she goes on the handguard. One of my mags was wonky, so it was causing jams, but they were easy to clear safely (pop, pull back the bolt and shake). Can't wait to mount the TRS-25 on her and have a bit of fun on Wednesday :D

I took mine to the range today, fired 100 rounds. There were precisely 2 issues within the 100 rounds, one was when a lefty shot it, and covered the ejection port. I also had a FTF, the bullet got jammed deep into the casing...I'm blaming the cheap chinese surplus ammo for that one. It's a tiny gun when I'm using it, as I'm 6'6, but it sure was fun to shoot...and the 4 other people who tried it loved it as well.

I have never handled a Tavor, but it's too pricey for me. The T97 allowed me to scratch the bullpup itch for a reasonable price. It's a keeper for me.

Check out my post/pics from the lar15 t97 thread, posts 37 and up. I and apparently others are having issues with lars, the bullets are not hitting the feed ramp on some lars, it is as though the don't seat deep enough so when the bolt strips the cartridge it jams under the ramp. I got my pmag to function perfectly with little effort, as far as lars go you might be best to take the rifle to the shop with a couple dummy rounds and fit the lars before you purchase them if possible

Video of me second time shooting my tavor (sold it unfortunately)

Will I be able to do that with the T97? Hell no, but maybe some aftermarket parts will improve the speed somewhat. still won't be as quick as the tavor due to the mag release and bolt release, but you have to decide what thats worth to you.

Exactly, you just proved my point for me.
Tavor is expensive for many reasons and the T97 is cheap for many reasons.
This model does not just apply to firearms, it applies to everything out there.

The fact is, there will be people willing to pay big bucks for better quality firearms...just like there will always be people willing to pay more for better cars.

Agreed. But what you have to decide is if the price increase is justified. Everyone will have a different opinion on that. The mag release issue will be mostly alleviated through an aftermarket part. We may even see a bolt release, who knows. If we do thats 2 advantages down and closes the gap between the 2. The flat top rail is the most drastic difference/advantage IMO.

Played with one tonight, no I didn't need to fire it. No ####ing way I'll own one. While it does have nice machining, the overall design of the rifle smacks of stupid. I'm thinking the brainchild behind this gun was someone who got bumped off any Apple product for wanting to put a physical keyboard on the IPhone or something similar. Seriously, this entire rifle is made to be awkward, nothing about it is though out in a way that makes any kind of sense for a gun that's supposed to actually get used. The safety has to rotate 180 degrees and is hidden back in your armpit. The mag release, well they could have just copied an AR one, they have barrels of them over there, but no, lets make it smaller and even more awkward to use. That's awesome. The sights, well yeah for 25m and in I guess they'll work. The wonderful rail? I'm waiting for first "I broke my integral rail" post. POS. And finally a top charging handle that necessitates that ridiculous carry handle/sight setup. I have big hands, with gloves, I'd have a hard time using it. Bare handed I had a hard time using it.
I'd be telling people to either A) buy an AR and live life on the range, B)Buy a Mini for around the same price as thing (maybe a bit more) and be free C)Buy a Tavor or a Sig for a lot more money and get 10 times the gun.

You have to fire one - the recoil is like no other. Shooting 5.56, it's buttery smooth & the trigger pull is light & predictable, in spite of how long it is - truly a pleasure to fire. Accuracy isn't that bad either. It may not be as optimal for battle or competition, but it's great fun to shoot. The AR is a great gun, but it's restricted and it's not a bull pup. The Tavor holds top position - no surprise there, but for the money, the T97 won't disappoint.

I handled on at the LGS the other day. I first noticed the fit and finish, and thought okay. I could even limit it to no optic and still be acceptable. The deal breaker for me was the mag release and safety position. No way.

So its a ####ty rifle, but its a NR bullpup so that makes it acceptable and even fantastic to some.....
I'm leaning more and more to cancelling my CanAm pre-order .....
