I'm looking for something that will get me out to 200m and beyond with reasonable accuracy.

Requirements: bolt action, ablilty to install a canted rail, non-traditional type stock that will help with bench or prone shooting, ability to attach bipod (sling swivel or anschutz rail), no CZ or Savage (they are great performers but i'm looking for something more "special", I guess), and id like to keep it within a $2000 budget (rifle only).

Rifles i'm already considering:

- Anschutz 64 MP R: This is the frontrunner at the moment, I really like the idea of a match grade 2 stage trigger but I don't think a 25.5 inch barrel is really necessary.

- Sako Quad Range: A nice option but are they even available yet? I'm also not crazy about the look of the laminate stock, although i've handled a t3 sporter and it was very comfortable.

- Sako Finnfire Range: This solves the aesthetic problem that the Quad has, but finding one seems to be a problem.

- Sauer 200tr: Can't find one. Canted rail available? within my budget?

- Krico 401: same as above.

So if you have any experience with the rifles mentioned above, id love to hear your input. If there's another option that I may not know about please fill me in. Thanks for your help.

Savage BTVS!!!! Just youtube BTVS and look at the long distance shots!!
I shoot from my deck to my target 175yds. I love it!!!
As for glass, please shop around, box store sometimes don't have the best prices.
4scopes.com is awesome. I saved over $200 after taxes and shipping on my sightron

Savage 93 TR, I shoot mine out to 300 yards regularly at my 4x8 mini gong, have even stretched out to 400 on calm days (still limited success....) it has had some ridiculously small groups, consistently at 50 yards. this is for well under 600 for rifle, bases, rings, and throw a decent scope on it, your in business! This is the best group I have had at 50, they are not always this good, but not a lot bigger, and I have never shot match ammo yet, hope you find what your looking for.

Heard lots of good about the quad. Have you looked for a suhl or maybe a remington 40x?

Didnt know they make match ammo for a 22wmr or a 17hmr.

Guess the first to repliers cant read to well either
Didn't notice the no savage thing.... and mistake on the model.......MarkII TR.... forgot it was classed differently....own a few of the .17's and one 22 mag, got it mixed in.

Alot of rifles have come and gone from my collection, but the Savage MKII BTVSS remains! Nice rifle and well made. Not sure I can say the same about their US made centerfires ;)

See Im the opposite. Lots have come and gone and the savages are all gone. My cooey is better made then those in my opinion. Also the cooey shoots better then any savage rimfire I ever had. :nest:

this will leave you with lots of extra funds for optics and smith work ;-)

That would be a very interesting project, but that's not what i'm looking for right now. I also already have the scope (see OP)

The 40x would be another excellent option, but again finding one seems problematic. Never heard of suhl before, i'll do some research on them.

So it seems that even though I don't want a Savage that's all i'm allowed to get lol.

Look on EE boards for a Rem 40x

Then put it in a Robertson benchrest stock and add a Jewell trigger at 2oz and go and shoot small groups with some good ammo barrel is 28"

Anschutz MPR, finally got the base for it from the States and put about 100 rounds through it a few days ago. I'll start another thread with my first impressions and some pictures when I get some time.

Congrats! Good choice.

If you can get your hands on some Lapua Center-X I think you will be extremely impressed with that Anschutz.

Very interested in a range report on your firearm.
This would make a great companion to take to the range with my match single shot .22

I will be testing as many different types of match ammo that I can get my hands on. Here's what I have so far.

Think of how many bricks of "Cyclones" or "Wildcats" you could have bought for what you payed for those 20 boxes LOL!

Thats a nice start! I'm sure you'll conclude the same as me.... SK Standard is great stuff for the price and Center-X the best bang for the buck. Where did you source the Polar Biathlon? Hirsch?

Everything you see came from Prophet River.

What does that ammo run. All I found in town yesterday was RWS for $20 bucks a box and some T22s on sale for $2:43 a box. I bought the T22s as I have never used them. I never paid close to $20 bucks a box for my Eley Tenex even.
