Is it me or does it seem like there has been a lot of new post about the SVT-40? Was there a bunch that just came in or something?
Just wondering.

Well, my local store got in about 20 a month or so ago, and I got the third last one. I guess everyone already has a SKS and is moving on to the next Russian Rifle.

Not new but I'm up to three now! I think they've become a little more mainstream now that CT, Wholesale Sports, etc are carrying them. Widespread availability equals widespread use.

I bought one this summe, I love it! I don't find its kick too much, its certainly not really loud especially compared to my rfb with a muzzle brake :)

If you enjoy shooting and collecting milsurp rifles, The Russian ones are a good price with lots of availability for ammo. Mosins, SKS, and SVT40s are easy to find and easy to shoot. Most shooters will subscribe to this.

Don't forget about the Tokarev! Everyone I know that has one, bought a few crates of ammo and loves shooting it. I found a restricted Makarov in .380 and its great!

CT in particular....someone even found 2-3 with notch...lucky find.

More stores are carrying them currently; prices are at an all time low in years (as low as $250); surplus ammo and commercial ammo is fairly readable at the moment and relatively there are not as many options for surplus rifles as there was a few years ago, at least cheap milsups.

I remember when SVT's first starting selling in bulk again about 6-7 years ago. They were listed at $550 at Milarm, but you could buy a 91/30, M38, M44, SKS, K11 etc for under $225 and K98's were only selling for $400 at the time.

The above variables have created a perfect storm. You can currently get them off the shelf for cheaper than you could get them by the crate only a year ago.

I am debating if I should get another but it has to be one with excellent bore. That will cost a bit more though.

I just bought one at Canadian tire last weekend. They had a 10% off all firearms and I did get like 60 cents off because I had a mountain of Canadian tire money. They had sks for 149.00 too but I really wanted the svt. Anyone have any experience with non surplus ammo with reloadable brass cases?
