Alright, one picture, special points if you guess the brand and caliber, later today or tomorrow Ill post another picture to make it a bit easier.

Sorry, I meant to say guess the ammo, but said bullet. Any contenders on ammo manufacturer? It looks like not too many folks have seen these before.

Early 70's Thompson Contender .44 hot shots

Blew that fish out of the water:

My uncle Jim gave me a box of these thinking I could use them, unfortunately I dont have a 44, but with ammo this cool I may have to buy one.

In the row, lever evolution 45-70, 325 WSM, hot shot 44 magnum, .303 brit, but maybe I should call it a 8mmWSM and a .311 brit.

If you want to research this a bit you will find that a couple others were also correct, TC never actually loaded ammo, they are in fact CCI 44 shot loads, loaded for TC by CCI and marketed by TC. To the best of my knowledge in the past 40 years CCI is the only company that has loaded shot loads for the 44. They are of course owned by the same company as Speer and many. many more..........Omark Ind........so did CCI actually load them or are they Speer loaded and marketed by CCI as well? Who knows..........

Actually I guess the blue section of the cartridge was likely manufactured by Speer.

I stand corrected.

These are a bit too interesting to shoot, and I'm not big on keeping stuff that just collects dust. Do these things have any collector value? Not that I'm looking to sell something gifted to me but just curious.

I played with TC Contenders way back, still got 1 and a few barrels. There was specific barrels for these shot cartridges, they were normally rifled but when you wanted to use shot there was a screw on choke with straight rifling that would counteract the normal rifling giving better patterns as the spin tends to blow patterns in normal barrels.

I made up some shot shells for my 44. 7 gr of trail boss, piece of egg carton as a wad, 12 bb's a light crimp and a few drops of bullet wax to hold the bbs in place... i tried it also with a cut down 303 case but it was more work than it was worth.
