Here is a fun thread for anybody with an opinion,

Weatherby Accumark in 300 WBY

Remington Sendero II in 300 RUM

Winchester Extreme Weather SS in 300 WM

This is my short list for next years rifle, I reload so any ammo price arguments are invalid and yes I can afford the Weatherby lol.

Glass will be a Leuplod VXIII 4.5-14X50

I'd like a fast, flat shooting .30 cal for longer shots at high angles and any of these rifles/cartridges would fit the bill.
Your opinions do matter because it will probably be a online deal, I haven't ever run across any of these rifles on the shelf.

If you're planning to get to these high angle shots by hiking up mountains I would not suggest the Sendero, I own one in 300 win mag and it's not ideal for carrying any kind of distance. Its heavy and not well balanced with my rifle sling. I do not have any field experience with the Weatherby, but given the specs it is a pretty similar rifle in terms of weight/barrel length. The Winchester is a pound lighter than the other two models, which after a long day in the field, might get to you. If a heavier rifle is not an issue for you I think that you should consider handling the Weatherby, I love my Sendero, but I really like the fit and feel of the Weatherby's I've handled. I'd stick with the 300 win mag, the Wby and RUMs are a little overkill for a 30cal IMO.

I have a thing for propitiatory cartridges if you cant tell. I have shot both the 300WM and 300WBY and honestly cant tell much of a difference between the two. I wont be hiking very far with this particular rifle, I already have a couple of those long days on foot. Most of the cutblocks I stake out are pretty much drive up and shoot

IMO the best rifle is the Sendero , but for the money ... The other 2 options cant touch the Sendero. There isn't even a debate

Nothing Shoots Flatter or hits Harder than a Weatherby !
It is all a matter of which Kool Aide you like to drink.
Me I like the Purple kind, they will all do what they are designed to do iffin
you do your part ;)
Iffin it where me, I would opt out for the 40mm glass and a larger main tube, like 30mm.
But, thats just me...

I have 2 of the 3 rifles mentioned. The sendero in 300rum is great its sheap to buy, about $1200 new and very accurate. mine loves 210 grain bergers at 3000 fps and sierra 200grain spbt at 3080 fps. The accumark 300wby is also very accurate, but a little more money. Mine like 200grain accubonds at 3100 fps. both rifles weigh about the same. Both rifles are a great choice for a long range hunting rig. I would avoid the extreme all weather model 70 in 300 win mag because its a 300 win mag. Faster and flatter is always better. Go for the 300 weatherby or the 300 ultra mag

Accuracy trumps both.

I would choose the 300 WM, and most likely the Winchester if it was a hunting rifle. If it is a bench rifle, the sendero again in 300 WM if 30 cal is the only option.

I agree.
With Weatherby's amazing 1.5MOA accuracy guarantee,:puke: in my opinion it is not even a contender. 300 Win Mag is an extremely accurate caliber, despite "the experts" claims that it is belted and having too short a neck to be useful or accurate, there are a ton of long range precision matches won every year with this apparently inferior old caliber, something neither the RUM nor the Wby can claim.
Recoil is higher with the RUM and the Wby as well as barrel life being significantly less.

The 300 Win is very capable of sending 200 to 210 gr bullets out the muzzle at the higher side of 2900 FPS which is only marginally slower than the other 2. A high speed miss is not nearly as productive as a slightly lower speed hit.

I'd go for the Winchester but that's because i'm not a huge guy and don't like to carry big beefy rifles around all day. YMMV

Dont forget almost any rifle is accurate with the right bullet powder primer combination. just because its fast dosent mean you will miss. I guess if recoil is an issue then a 300 wm is an alternative

Having owned a Sendero and a 70 Extreme Weather SS, I suggest the Winchester, about 9000:1 over the Remington, for a hunting rifle.

I'd get it in 300 WSM if it were me, but nothing wrong with the older 30 cal Winchester magnum either.

I'll pick the Weatherby Accumark. For folks who don't keep up with the latest, Weatherby does manufacture the accumark with a sob-moa guarantee, and muzzlebrake can be requested for recoil sensitive users. If the OP is picking the gun now for this hunting season, well................kind of late isn't it?

Not looking to buy for this season, you're right its a little late this year to get into a new rifle wit the time constraints I'm dealing with. It wasn't too long ago I had my heart set on a 9.3X62 but I caught a case of magnumitis and the prognosis is not good. I'm really liking the thought of a Weatherby but I'm going to handle one first.
