VZ58 experts, is this normal wear and tear?

Thanks for weighing in Stevo.

These wear marks look abnormal to you then eh?

Really sad that their quality has gone down lately.

Especially now that no one is importing the CZ version now.

I don't have them any more but I'm pretty sure at least one of my 858s had those "dimples" on the receiver near the chamber.

As long as your gun works correctly, and the deformations don't get any worse it shouldn't be a problem. Personally, I'd just shoot the #### out of it, but I understand why you might want to send it back.

My CSA VZ58 rifle has been in for repair once and I don't think the issues were resolved.

There is peening and obvious forceful contact between the bolt carrier and the receiver around the barrel, even peening on the top of the barrel.

Is this normal?

I need some feedback before I contact the repair depot for a second trip in for repair.

Thanks

My 858 has marks like yours does shown by the downward pointing arrows in your bottom pic.

In my case these were caused when the bolt carrier was allowed to slam forward without a bolt and locking block installed, as the gun was shipped without them in the process of getting nitrocarburized.

I'm not sure of what's going on with yours however...

Thank you 870P, those marks are from normal operation with all parts functioning.

If this was 1000's of rounds I'd care less.

I'm only 1/2 way through my first crate of ammo.

My concern is that it will get exponentially worse over time. I intend to run 1-2 crates per year through the gun. After a few years I fear the gun parts will be very deformed.

Never heard of that happening, no reason to expect that it necessarily would in your case. Of course if it gets you a new rifle under warranty and that's what you want... Have at er!

CSA is known to make a less quality versions.

Thats a bit of a bold statement..........i dont really see to many of the 7.62X39 VZ's with issues, i would say ive seen just as many issues with the CZ 858. Now the .223 thats a rifle i would stay clear of certain manufacturing year's but CSA seems really ready to help customers and back there product if issues arise I will say NS sucks and has made warranty issues really drag out and they seem to aggravate the situation but hollywood arms were really helpful and reassuring, that's been my experience having had 3 Vz's and issues only with my .223 and im at over 1000rds in my one 2013 and i hit 500 in my new one, I have no issues with my 7.62X39 Vz's at all

Nitroxrunsthrume thanks for the feedback.

The new warranty center was great first time round. I'm not keen on sending the gun back in a second time. I literally just got it back.

I've heard good things about CSA warranty.

I'm sure this gun could keep going and going however a rifle costing nearly $1000 should be peening with less than 700 rounds through it. At least in my mind.

I'm hopeful that tomorrow I will hear from CSA.

My 2013 CSA .223 Sa Vz 58 Sporter has none of those wear marks but its only on the 400th round so far. I was told from the get go when I posted the gun on CGN that the .223 model Vz 58 has issues with feeding, extracting, and broken firing pins and I've taken extra precaution with these comments and bought .223 snap caps, and also run it like a Norinco M305 with grease instead of oil. The gun has been flawless and I'm happy with the product.

Its a lame place to be stuck but keep your spirits up! i believe CSA will do what needs to be done

I bought a used CZ858, has about 800 rounds through it now with no wear like that.
Good luck with the CSA, hopefully they do what is right!

My CSA does not have these marks but my CZ858 has a small print on the receiver similar to your second pic. CSA has 2k+ rounds CZ about 300. Both are working good.

Why is it that every other post I am reading on this subject is from Rick911 and mattcwc, we get it you hate CSA and love CZ. Now lets move on with some empirical evidence and some other data points shall we?

I do not own a CZ nor a CSA.

There is countless topics on CSA (mostly bent things, cracked, or broken firing pin)

Almost none concerning CZ's

On the contrary if you do a quick search you will find problems with the CZ's as well. The .223 CSA is not engineered properly, but the 7.62x39 version has very few problems. There have basically been 3-4 who have had problems and posted about it.
