Anyone have pic of a 229 next to 226 for size comparison

Check out youtube, one in particular posted by Yankee Marshall.

The 229's have an approximate quarter inch barrel protrusion. Much smaller than a 226 in person as compared to what specs would indicate. Barrell lengths between Canadian 106mm barrel which come with the 229's in comparison to the 226's is very close. 229's have a thicker grip. Guessing a negligible amount of accuracy may be lost due to shorter sight plane on slide.

Good luck finding one new if you end up the 229 route. Took me a good while, seems lots listed on vendor's sights, but no ones got them. 226's on the other hand, I've seen a few of.

I'm in Ontario by the way, your mileage may vary.

I'm not sure if you're thinking of getting a P229... but I'd really recommend it regardless ;) I picked up mine a few months back; and haven't really cared to shoot my P226's since then. It just seems so, right, lol. It is a bit smaller, and I felt more natural in my hand. I have pretty big mitts on me, so I was surprised that the slightly smaller size of the gun wasn't a bad thing. Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon stage, I dunno, but anyways, I liked it enough to sell a 226 that was now surplus to my needs. And wants. When we finish up harvest, if I remember, I'll post a few side by side pictures of a 226 and a 229 from different angles.

Its funny you say that because I feel the same way. I added a pair of Hogue finger groove grips and has made the gun even better! My 226 is moping that it doesn't get out every time but I still like both a lot! :)

-OP should just buy both!!!
