If you wanted a rifle stock for a competitive F-TR rifle that you can also drag in the snow, rain, mud etc and shoot in any weather and not be worried about hurting it much.
What would you pick?

thanks

Really the only downside to the Choate is the weight, and the downside to the Mcmillan is the price (and maybe wait time). Both are lots tough though.

Weight is definitely a bit of a concern as I want as much weight as I can on the barrel, and it'll likely be another barnard S action.
Is there anything when it comes to laminate stocks that would be worth considering?

Laminated stock can be springy (sp?). If there is not enough "meat" around the recoil lug area it can move Under recoil. My next one will be maple and aluminium, still thinking about the final shape.

Mill out to the choate to reduce the weight. It is massively overbuilt so you can swiss cheese and still have a superb stock.

One thing that gelcoat doesn't like is abrasion. The choate stocks will stand up to far more rough handling then any stock on the market, even aluminum chassis.

Lam stock are becoming very popular in F open as composite stocks from all major brands are showing incidence of flex. Now it takes a pretty big hunk of lam stock to eliminate this so these are no light weight stocks either.

There are options to lighten but Lam stocks are pretty heavy regardless.
