When do I stop buying extra mags?

For pistols...I like 5-6 per gun. For something that has a thin and/or cheap magazine like Ruger Mk. I, II, IIIs and the TT-33 where you can normally put 2 magazines in one "standard" pistol mag pouch and the ammo is also cheap to shoot lots of I like those guns I like to have around 10.

I used a Springfield xd 9mm to shoot PPC duty pistol it's 150 rounds of either 6,12,24 round matches
I had enough mags to load all 150 rounds but only 6 rounds per mag. And they where all original Springfield magazines
Lots of people thought it was excessive until they realized all the extra time I had between targets when you don't have to reload mags
That and I'm just plain lazy sometimes

as stated earlier. Divorce and poverty. But a house full of guns.

10 Mags per pistol / rifle is my max. 8 loaded and two spare. Rotate the spares in, etc.
But i've bent my own rule with a Glock 17 and JR Carbine 9mm.. so i'm allowed to get 20. :)

not if you have to sell half or all your guns to even out the assets in the divorce!

I have 3 mags each for my .22 LR,
6 for each of my pistols,
4 AI mags for 2 of my bolt action (they're so damn expensive!), and
8 mags each for my M25 and my AR15s.

I would like to get a couple more AI mags, but that's it, I think I'm at my limit.

I hope to go away on an extended vacation/parental leave next year - so I have to draw the line somewhere and arbitrarily :)

not sure i totally get it unless you are into competitive shooting. 8-10 mags? in my years of reading about firearms, have i missed some well known fact that mags inherently unreliable or something? i definitely keep some spare ammo around because it is such a pain to get ammo these days but haven't felt the need to buy a bunch of magazines for my in-production semiautos.
