Does anyone know where to get steel magazines to replace the polymer ones? I haven't been able to find one but would drop the money in a heartbeat for one, especially in 7mm. I have considered selling the A7 for the 85 but this A7 is such a tack driver and set up so nice I do not want to take that risk.

They don't feed properly, when the mag is full it seems to swell the body and widen it. Now if you take an empty mag, load and shoot immediately it is ok, but if mag is left in the rifle for a while when hunting or when mag is in truck it start going "wonky" .Also feed lips seem to really bite the brass.

What don't you like about the polymer one?

Sounds like you got a bad magazine.....I had two A7s and never had an issue. I've got several friends with them that the mags work just fine in as well. Send yours back and get a replacement.

I have had Parker hale, Savage Remington and Browning BLR steel mags do exactly the same thing, swell out and jam up in the gun or cause the ammo to jam up in the mag but only when loaded to max capacity. Just because a mag is made of steel doesn't mean it will necessarily work better, in fact it may be worse. I would get a replacement Sako mag and try it, or may have to load it up one shell short of max.

A friend advises all his bullets pop out of the mag when he opens the bolt.

The word he got from Stoegger Canada suggested they were manufactured 1 mm greater than tolerances.
The quick fix, with hunting season occurring was to squeeze them with pliers, and send it in after for replacement.

its not the first time I have heard of this problem with he a7s mag. I know a guy who has had two replacement mags from sako and the same thing still happens.

Squeezed mine and its works fine now, was poping
Rounds out before. Its just stamped stainless attached to a plastic body, its not rocket science, all it needs is a little tweak

Called the importer and they are replacing it, ill let SAKO make a little tweak after all its a SAKO and imo is expected to be in a little higher class.
