Has anybody tried to use the NC Star 308 Stripper clips in the clip guide on an M1A/M14? I've heard that they are too wide. Can somebody do me a favor and measure their width?

Thanks

I have used them in my m305 & ishapore .308, Lee Enfield with success. Some were too tight, but you get something like a gazillion in one box so ~ your mileage may vary. I found that the old IVI ones work the best, if a bit loose.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

I bought a 20 pack with my M305. I'm more likely to recharge the mag from the stripper clip than swap out mags when I'm shooting. They work just fine for me. My biggest pain is stripping 5 rounds off a ten round clip.

Canadian reloading is so...tedious.

+1. I'd sure like to have a 20 round mag like I had in the army! Recharging with two ten round clips-- Hoo-rah!
I got ~20 of those strippers from SFRC when I ordered the Norinco "Nato" ammo.
I find it helps if you press your thumbs down on the rear of the top cartridge. If you press down on the middle or the front the rims will just jam in the track.
Oh, and Yes, the NC Star clips fit into my M305 guide perfectly.

Can't these 10rnd stripper clips be cut in half...resulting in 2x 5rnders? (see Newbie questions)

I think the spring steel liner would fall out, you would be better off buying 5 rd stripper clips.

you can see the directional crimps on the 5 rd clips here

if you cut them im pretty sure it will just slide out one end

"...10rnd stripper clips be cut in half..." Real NATO stripper clips are 5 rounds, but you can't cut 'em either. They're handy as hell for carrying hunting ammo with a case based on .308/.30-06.

How about a ten round mag?

Not trying to hijack your thread, but... At the gun show in Saanich (BC) last weekend they were showing these couplers that will connect two 5 round mags bottom-to-bottom.
That way you have a legal ten round mag. You just need to flip it end for end to access the other 5 rounds. I would've bought one,
but there were no more 5 round mags available.

If you wanted a legal 10rd mag for the m14 you can just buy a AIA Enfield mag, no need to waste time with couplers.

Oddly enough, Westrifle sells the clips too. I bought some from them a week before I ended up with a bag of 80 NATO ones for $5 at a gun show.
