Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

I have bigger calibers, but for felt recoil, muzzle blast not withstanding, the 375H&H is the heaviest kicker I have ever fired.

LoL! ... is that a fact Kevin? ... Bwaaa ha haaw! ... 3 things that you may not wanna hear:
1. The 82 grains of powder that drop-tubed into those 'slightly steamy' loads?, ... & the ominus crunch-crunch-crunching sound in the die :runaway:... as them weighty bullets seated down to 3.850"oal.
2. Most .375 first-time-out'ers of my aquaintance ... they generally tend to refrain themselves, ... from ripping off six rounds <rapid fire> right out of the gate!. Eh?. :p
3. Count yer lucky stars those weren't Prone Shots ... as that rifle quite frequently gets discharged from.:p:wave:

As to heaviest ever recoil; A certain members diabolical cut down 27"oal lightweight pistol gripped 10ga single shot, 3 1/2" Max. Mag. buckshot.
Let 'er go one handed(on a dare). Grip broke right off the gun. Shotty went airborne. vvik had tingle-numb-claw-palm-itis for a spell there.

On further thought, the .458 Lott left the biggest impression. 500 grain loads at 2300 fps. Four rounds and I had a flinch I'm still not completely over. That cartridge really belts you. It makes the .375 H&H feel pleasant. I think my recoil tolerance threshold is probably .375H&H.
Was it just the rifle or do you think you'd find 458 Lott unbearable in any rifle?

No. 3 Ruger in 45-70 with heavy smokeless handloads - bucks up into my cheekbone. The first gun that I encountered that is too much for me.
By comparison, my 45-70 Browning B78 (longer barrel) with 500 grain black powder loads is a pussycat.

Was test firing someone else's 12 gauge O/U with heavy skeet loads and both barrels went off with one pull of the trigger, was not expecting that.

None the less there was nothing left of the target..

I put cci stingers in my old 10/22 one time, boy I'm not going to do that again... recoil is subjective I had a 12 ga pistol and a homemade holster that was regularly fired one handed with high brass slugs and buckshot back in the day .The recoil was pretty tame but the tang lever sure cut into the web between the thumb and finger if you weren't careful .

worst stomping I ever had was from a Kreighoff double rifle in, I think it was 450 Nitro last month at Wolverine. Lovely little rifle, but quite a wallop. They showed folks how to hold it properly to minimize the hurt. They didn't do that with the .50BMG Barret! (though I'd not get behind one of those without the tank-sized muzzle break)

My 16 gauge Cooey is the one I found the most unpleasant to shoot. I have wondered sometimes if it was that the gun didn't like the load of shell I was shooting and experimented with other guns of mine. It doesn't seem to change with them or the 16 gauge Cooey. That gun is terrible for kicking and I do a lot of field shooting a year with other gauges but have never found anything that compares to the 16 gauge Cooey......OUCH!!!

I have a CIL 16 gauge and it's still wicked with a decelarator pad on it. It was my first shotgun when I was 14. Back then it has a metal but. Ouch...

a few years ago I loaded five rounds for my #3 Ruger with 500GR. cast lead bullets. I fired one ,two friends fired one each. it was painful and awesome. you had to hold it in a very firm grip because not only did it kick like a mule the torque would twist it out your hands. friend #2 almost dropped it on the ground.
and after all those years I still have the other two rounds left.
