New Chinese SKS, firing pin sticking out too far?

I recently got a Chinese SKS from Marstar and last night I went to sight it in with the tech sights I put on. While everything functioned fine, I noticed that the primers on the spent casings were hit pretty hard and much deeper than my Russian SKS's.

It is worth noting that I was using new production non-corrosive ammo.

I also had to empty the mag in the middle of shooting for a cease fire, and when I cycled my bolt to get the live round out of the chamber, I noticed that the primer on the live round had a slight mark from the firing pin on it. I will get pics when I can.

Is this common on the Chinese SKS's? Never noticed this on my Russians. Or is this just due to the softer commercial primers?

The bolt and firing pin channel are nice and clean as well.

Thanks!

You might want to look at getting a spring kit for the firing pin, I'm thinking that might fix your problem

Which commercial ammo? Federal (American Eagle etc) have very soft primers.

Understand that a free floating firing pin will strike forward somewhat when the bolt slams shut. That's normal.

Have you disassembled your bolt to make sure all debris and preservative is cleaned from the firing pin and its channel?

The ammo I was using was the barnaul stuff. The bolt and the fp chamber are all cleaned, I will have to try some military ammo in it sometime to see if it does the same.

when you say bolt is clean, did you remove the firing pin from the bolt and clean inside?

Likely a combination of the soft commercial primers and having the bolt slam shut when chambering the first round.
With floating firing pins, it is recommended that the user not allow the bolt to slam closed freely after loading the weapon. The protruding firing pin has been known to ignite the primer when doing so.

I just noticed this on my brand new SKS. I chambered a round for the first time after getting it and cleaning it (Czech surplus) the primer shows a pronounced mark after the bolt slammed home. The pin is completely free (it rattles) and flush when I feel the bolt face with the bolt locked open. It never once slam fired, but it feels unnerving when I read about all these slam-fire episodes. Also, if I ease the bolt forward, it hangs up slightly about an 1/8" from home. Is that normal?

I've seen this two times at the club , one of the guys was going to take the gun back to the dealer for a check up the other slam fired tearing the brass in half leaving part in the receiver. I never did hear the outcome. Perhaps a spring fix similar to the fix the ACR went through is available
