Please help me find good optics 100m-300m for my Tavor:

Durable-reliable/can stand abuse
no batteries
Under $300 (? if such exists )

Don't need fancy optic, just something simple & Durable for 100m-300m, that I can relay on to work when I need it the most.

Thanks.

no batteries means an acog or a DURABLE variable scope and im not aware of any in that price range. i saved up for a LONG time and put an elcan specterdr on the tavor it is a match made in heaven! save your penny's for a while that tavor deserves the best

I hate to sound like "that guy", but putting an el cheapo optic on a quality rifle is an oxymoron. Save up and buy a quality optic that matches your needs. 100-300m I would look at Elcan DR, Trijicon Acog/Vcog. If you don't need a magnified optic, you can always get an Eotech or Aimpoint and add a magnifier later on if you decide you need one.

I know it's very hard to part with a large sum of money for an optic, but think of it as an investment. You have already put out quite a bit for a nice rifle, why would you not want to save a little bit and put something on there you're going to be happy with? Optics can always be switched to different firearms too, so if you ever decide to sell your rifle, the sight can always be kept for a different rifle setup.

I have used a Tavor was several setups including;
- Acogs
- EOtechs
- Spector DR's
- Vortex Viper PST 1-4
- Mepro M21
- Aimpoint T1 micro
I myself have stuck to the EOtech 553 /w a EOtech gen 3 magnifier, but if I had to go with something else, the ACOG and Vortex were a pretty nice setup. The Vortex is the closest thing that I think you'd be looking for, and as close to your budget as can be for a well made optic. Vortex's also have a lifetime warranty.

Also have a look at their no BS warranty

One vote for the Vortex PST 1-4. It has illuminated reticle but I rarely need to turn it on when outdoors. It works almost as good as a red dot but gives you the flexibility of a 4x scope.

so you spent $2,700 on an awesome rifle and know want a $300 scope? If you want a scope with no batteries look at Trijicons RMR series but those are going to be at lease $700 for the 3moa version. At the very least do not embarrass your Tavor with anything less than an Aimpoint PRO.

I am a former Israeli soldier, I never had any optics on my Tavor rifle in my days in the army,
but always believed that optic will be nice to have...
All I ever known was iron sights, and I am good shooter up to 100m, and not to bad up to 150m,
I wear glasses, though I can hit targets past the 150m, but no groups... I was hoping that simple optics will help me with that.
I really don't think that I need 1K fancy optics, just something simple & Durable for the 100m-300m...

I really appreciate all your feedback, and will consider ANY good optics that was recommended here - regardless of the price.
*that is why it was # 3 on the priority list with a question mark :)

Go elcan spectr like what I and many others did. It's a 2000$ optic and worth every single penny, you don't need the batteries for the crosshairs to work. The quality of the glass is incredibly high, its Canadian made, no Chinese stuff. It is an extremely sought after optic, but yes it's pretty damn expensive.

Otherwise, I would go with an eotech 512 or an xps with a g33 magnifier, that would run you about 1000$ but then of course you would need batteries, but then again the glass is phenomenal.

You don't need to go aimpoint although that is a very high quality optic as well, eotech is just as good, the only difference is battery life, but damn it just buy a whole damn box of batteries and keep some in your belt!

If you really want no batteries and acogs are too high priced for you, you can always buy a BROWE BSO like I put on my T97, its a 5.56 crosshair and it's phosphorescent. Browe glass is also very very good quality, that would run you about 1000$ bucks as well.

So here's a picture top left you got the eotech xps2.2 with a g22 mag(the old version of the g33), to the right of that you got the BROWE BSO and right on top of the Tavor rail you got the Elcan SpecterDR

Aww, come on guys. I'm rocking a Vortex Sparc on my Tavor, cost $220. For what it cost it's actually pretty decent. I would of put on a Aimpoint, but I had this laying around, and I plan to upgrade to either a ACOG or the Elcan Specter DR. Maybe my wife will get me one for Christmas. But for now it's more than good enough.

May be good enough for CQB, OP is looking for 1-300 meters.

OP.....take your optics budget and multiply by 4, then you'll be getting closer to reality.

There are one or two 1-4 powers like the Millet DMS or the HiLux CMR that will cost from $300-350 or more. The problem is that you still have to get a mount for them so add another $100.

I like the Burris AR332. Fixed three power, large optic size, cheap CR2032 battery. Has a simple reticle ready to go out to 600m that can be black, red or green. Around $400 but it also comes mount ready.
Still has some adjustability for eye differences and the large horsehoe gives the benefits of focussing your eye like a red dot.
Most sights like Elcan and ACOG are 3, 3.4, 3.5 and 4 power. Three power is enough to improve your abilities quite well to three or four hundred.

Red dot, Vortex Spark and Strikefire.

See if IRunGuns can bring this up: ht tps://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-1-6X-Scope-with-ACSS-Reticle-p/pa1-6xrbd.htm. I know a couple guys down south who run it and it seems pretty good (and is in the right price point).

You'd be surprised. Last time I had my Tavor out I was shooting at 250 yards and getting constant hits on a 10" plate. I'm pretty sure I could do the same at 300.

an entry level vortex is all you need. I out shot a friend who was using a schmidt and bender short dot on his. He had better ammo too. Its not the kit its the shooter. if the scope holds zero it will be just fine, and a $300 scope will work just fine. The best value for your money is a 3-9 used leupold, you can find them on the ee for not too much money, it gives you lots of power and you can still see things up close. It makes the tavor more fun to shoot when you can easily see things far away. you don't need a $1000 scope. sure they are great, but the are NOT necessary.

I like small, lightweight optics on my short rifles. I'm currently using a 3.5 MOA Trijicon RMR on my Tavor. It's very lightweight, nice FOV, easy to use with both eyes open and with my astigmatism give me a rounder dot than either 4 MOA or 2 MOA Aimpoints I've used.
