OK to use combo 7x57R/12ga on shotgun only deer hunt if I don't carry the rifle ctgs

You are 100% right and 100% wrong.

We have stupid laws because we have stupider people.

I would have to guess that the reason for not allowing the firearm woudl be that someone could easily conceal ammo for use on their person.... Kind of like the same idiotic law that says I can't have beer within reach when I am driving even though it isn't open and I am not drinking it....

the whole "He isn't doing anything wrong or harmful but he might because he has the potentially offending item within arms reach" attitude....

My friend, who invited me to hunt with him and his friends, called the Ontario MNR and was told that, no, a combo gun, even without ammo, was not allowed to be in the field for the non rifle hunt.
Thanks all for your in-put.

LOL, look to the EE for a really nice CZ coming up for sale!! LOL

Pete my original comments where what I would do and to maybe jog the grey matter between ones ears to do some further searching.
It would appear that others have done just that.
Either they called the DMR office in their area or further searching via the WWW.
I'm not sure how it is worded in BC, but eventually I will follow up with my suggestion .
So, whats the CZ you are looking to part with and got any pictures.
Tight Groups,
Rob

Hey Rob,
My problem has been solved.
I'll be hunting in WMU 73 (pretty well populated area, so shot gun only is understandable) and MNR says NO rifles or combination there of, so it gave me an excuse to buy another gun!! LOL, that's always a good thing in my books!
I'll likely keep the CZ (hence the LOL in my post) as there are rifle deer hunts in the more rural locations in ON.
This is my first deer hunt (any hunt for that matter) and I am looking very much forward to it. In the future, after gaining some experience, I hope to expand my hunts to the more remote areas of the Province and the CZ will be good for that.
Thanks for your input.
