Picked up this lamo 1954 Izhevsk the other day. Numbers matching, riveted mag, shiny/polished bayo.
Pulled from a freshly shipped crate for $199.99
Man that receiver cover is hard to photograph! lol.

That's a lovely rifle! Where did you pick this up?
I have a contact at a local store who picked through the crates for me. I got lucky because some clown goes there and buys every Izzy they uncrate, then turns around and immediately sells them for a profit.
I'm keeping this one as is, and likely forever. I appreciate the rifle and resent that other guy and his greed. :p

While I can understand what he's doing (everyone needs to get by), I'd still like to be able to walk into a store and find an Izzy sitting on the shelf. I'd love to get my hands on a 1952 Izzy/Tula one of these days, but I've only seen Tula's locally, never mind and all matching Izzy!

I love getting any of my Russian rifles out of the safe and just smelling them. Actually just did it today!

Oddly enough, I did that last night as well. I always get excited when I smell cosmoline! Makes me want to buy more red rifles...so tempting...

I think Izhevsk only made SKS's in '53 and '54.

A buddy of mine works in a local shop. He picked out a nice 1954 Izzy for me when they opened a new crate. All the metal looks original and matching, but it sports a laminate stock. It only has the matching S/N on it, no ######xx overstamps.

Auggie D.

Yup 53 and 54 only for Izzy's.
My 54 is just as you describe yours.

Beautiful SKS. Reminds me that I need to purchase one for the collection. Never should have sold mine. :(

Does the store owner want to sell his SKS crate? :D

Not sure, but I know CT has the crates for sale on the selling floor for $100. (Too steep IMO)

That's funny My local gun store has to pitch them out to get rid of them.

What are you talking about?... both Hamilton stores sell them before the guns are gone! Trust me, I've "had my name on one" several times only to never receive a phone call... I suspect staff are hogging them. I would love to own one to store my collection.

Which Hamilton stores have SKS's?
