Are you happy with your T97?

Did you guys couple your LAR mags? Mine are grey

I think if you pulled any mag down and rearward while chambering a round, you would get the setback issue - thing is, I think the mags partially friction lock - with 5 rounds, maybe even 10 - 20 that causes no problems, but with more weight, I suspect the gravitational force is more than the friction, which forces the mag to tilt down.

I quickly tried last night, and in think the D&H mag would have the same problem if it were loaded to 30.

I here's a video - don't mind my clueless reload - it literally was my forst time trying with a coupled mag.

Harbl I've got another theory with the LAR mags. There are issues with them in other rifles as well. I had to file the front of the mags to get them to feed reliably in my AR. It seems the bullets sit lower in the mag compared with other mags. In the 97 this might cause the bullet to smash into the feed ramps, pushing the bullet in the case. Next time out I will bring my LAR mags and see if they function well. I've done a lot of filing to mine, while others have done this and also changed followers.

I've not had any issues with my LAR mags in my AR, but it's an interesting theory none the less. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out next time I'm in the shop.

Here's the vid (no pony music this time - out of consideration to all the haters) :p

However - painful to watch reloads - so ye are fairly warned.

I really like my t97. No issues so far with 300+ rounds thru it using d&h and pmags. Put a Burris fastfire3 on it sits nice and low. I can't say I like the looks of the blocky aftermarket rail that is coming out, I don't like the idea of cutting off the front sight, but to each their own. All in all I'm pleased with it.

It's been mentioned a few times that some magpul anti-tilt USGI spec followers will fix the "crunched bullet syndrome" in LAR mags. I've had no issues with the D&H. Important to note that all of the crunched bullets were Norinco bulk -
I haven't seen this reported with any other kind of ammo.

I have witnessed it happening with other brands of factory ammo, not just Norinco.

Reloads and American Eagle (fed) both had setbacks with lar, i will try and get some magpul followers to try (or just take them out pmags if that works)

Who's the guy in the shower beside you?

What did you use it to hunt? PICS!!! And congrats!!!

Cheers
Jay

Thanks bud!

It's taken a bunch of grouse already, and some areas are heavily wooded with lots of coyotes. If I can get one to come in I'll take it down.

Lol it's real nice to carry on my back as the backup. So light and doesn't catch on trees or branches or anything seeing as it isn't any longer than my torso.

I got mine some time back but havent had the time to clean it or take it out of the box. I am hoping to have the time over Christmas.

Wow!!!...You must be really busy to not have enough time to at least take it outa the box....I wouldn't be able to not at least do that with a new rifle no matter how busy I was....

Sorry just read you are out of the country.....Hope you can play with your new toy soon...

Are they perfect? Nope. Do some of the controls suck? Yup.
I bought one understanding that it was a Norinco, not a Noveske.
Am I disappointed with what I got for the money spent?
ABSO-FRIGGIN-LOUTLY NOT!!
I think it is one of the best beater, truck, camper, bush, coyote, gopher guns out there!
