30-30 case trim length

I don't know if it's a big deal or not, but what I'm concerned about is the trim length. The Sierra manual states trim to length 2.029 The Hornady manual states trim to length 2.093 Seems like quite a difference. I wanted them to all be uniform so thought I would trim them to a standard size using a Lee 30-30 case trimmer. That's the one that you put the case in their holder and put in a hand drill and stick the cutter in the case. I did one case and checked it and it was 2.016 That's .077 less than the Hornady case trim length. Seems like a lot. Is that anything to worry about ?

Nothing to worry about.
30-30 cases "grow" very slow. If you want something to do, you could trim them with your Lee trimmer and then forget about them, as the cases, even though they have a long life, will be worn out before they need any further trimming.

My Hornady 8th edition states trim to 2.029, and max as 2.039. Lyman states trim to 2.028, and diagram reads 2.039 as spec. Your Hornady manual must be screwed.
I'd say 2.093 is a typo and they meant 2.039. I'd ink amend if I was you.

Oh, and Hodgdon's 2013 annual reloading manual reads Trim: 2.030".

Agree. That's how I do it and I've not had a problem, and all my rounds chamber and fire just fine.

That's the one. Just make sure that someone hasn't over torqued the guide into the cutters. Mine are usually a little better then finger tight.
