Does anyone know of a gunsmith in Winnipeg, or Manitoba for that matter, that actually replies to their emails? I am new to shooting and have to say that the customer service I have received from all the smiths I have tried so far is awful.

Jim Schellenberg in Mitchell would be my suggestion, used him a couple years ago. He is semi-retired so no guarantees.
My apologies for resurrecting a dead thread, but would you know if Mr. Schellenberg has a business line or a home phone number to contact him via? My cleaning rod snapped inside a brand new .22LR on Friday and it not only damaged the crown, but took a chunk of out the barrel just below the crown. Currently, the rifle is useless.
If you type "Jim Schellenberg" and "Mitchell MB" into google, his phone number comes up. It works for many others as well when you know their name and where they live.![]()
Ok guys, Jim is a hard person to get a hold of, He is very busy do to allot of hunters waiting till the last minute to get their guns fixed before hunting season...
Your best bet is to go to his place he will only answer the phone Mon, Tues, Wed & your lucky if you can talk to him then. Thursday & Friday he works on guns & won't take calls as He needs to get some jobs done.
I have been trying to call him myself. I've known Jim for many years & this has been the case for a very long time. Jim is also a predator & deer hunter and needs time for himself as well.
Just keep trying or leave a message. But personally if that is your problem SparkOfLight I think you need a barrel guy, not sure if Jim can help you in this case. He can remove your stuck rod, just not sure if Jim can re-cut your crown...
