My fiance and myself are both very avid hunters, and thought about having a guided hunt for our honeymoon. Anyone have any recommendations close to the $10,000 mark for 2 people? I'd love for it to be cheaper, but I don't expect it to be.
We were thinking of possibly doing Alaska Caribou, and if anyone knows any Alaska Guide outfits that are particularly good please give a recommendation as long as it's not too far out of that price range. I'd love to do a sheep hunt, but its outside of my price range for now at least in Alaska.

Wow... Saw your headline and thought a pheasant hunt for a couple of days over trained dogs with a guide would be perfect... You're out of my league...lol

That would be sweet too! We've got a trained dog so maybe a good idea for going somewhere with larger populations than locally. we were thinking if we were going to go for the cost of a guide may as well hunt something we couldn't get the opportunity to hunt locally.

As for Hawaii, I'm not familiar with the game found there. Im not really a fisher though.

It's only along the coast that is hot, the mid elevations are pleasant and the high country is downright cool.

So go some place with a high pheasant population... Use your dog and put him or her to the test... Spend yoir money on lavish accomodations amd great food... Dream trip in m books... But I'm an upland guy and somewhat bias...

My wife and I actually just came home from our honeymoon hunting trip. We went with Monroe Lake Lodge in Manitoba for barren ground caribou. It was an awesome trip. Alot of people laughed at us with this idea but it really suited us and our tastes. Its cool to hear we arent the only ones who have done this. PM me if you want any details about the trip.

Some of our friends still laugh at us too, but most think it's cool that we're so passionate about it and my wife takes lots of photos too which helps them see our perspective of it even if they don't think its for them. When we have tags to fill within open season though we're pretty much gone from friends/family with the exception of work days and so discussion of it is often a big part of things when we do get together regardless otherwise its fairly quiet. It's funny though because I know a couple of them would actually like hunting if they would take up our invite to come out with us, but can't force them. Hopefully in time.

For a few dollars more you could do a nice trip to South Africa.

or for a few dollars less...$10 000 wil bring you far in Africa...doing some 'chinese accounting' the following can happen:

1. flights @ $3 500
2. 7 days, 6 nights for 2 with 4 trophy species include (Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, Warthog / Sprinbuck) @$3 500
3. Trophies back to country of origin @ $2 000

Total: $9 000 and some 'sun downers'...(estimated)

Add in tips, in country travel/lodging, gun permits, etc and I'd budget a bit more than $10k but overall very affordable.

Azerbaijan is my dream hunt,
just for its unique species, not sweat to death temperatures, and reasonable prices...

Pretty tough to do one person and one species (tur)for $10k in Azerbaijan but definitely the adventure of a lifetime.

I would check into South Africa or Namibia for someone who'll do a combo hunt/sightseeing, there are quite a few operations who do this. You could hunt for a week or a bit less then tour Cape Town or other areas in SA or go to the Caprivi,Kaokoland in Namibia.

Nothing wrong with birds or other hunts in North America, but for the money and experience Africa is pretty much impossible to beat. Most North American hunts for two will run you $10,000 plus, and that's if you stick to the cheaper, one species offers.
