In my gun room hugging my Brno's
I came across another one at Canadian Tire but I'm undecided whether to get it. I already have 2 of them. Hand selects from Tradex. Both are Tula. One is 1953, the other appears to have no date, and is probably a 55/56. The one I was just looking at has matching serial numbers and is a Tula dated 1954. Couldn't see any ### marks. Black bayonet. The barrel has stenciled numbers on. They're asking about $200. I guess they got a crate in and aren't sure if they're going to bother getting another. About 1/2 sold I hear. Wish I could look through the rest, could be a Izhevsk in there for all I know.

Cost you more, but for $260 (shipping in) you can get an all matching Izzy from Westrifle. Shiny bayonet, no ### stock, laminate or hardwood, and cleanest mag pin job. Plus, if you're not in BC you only pay GST!
 
Buy it... you know you want it :) ... three of the larger importers are telling me that its now slim pickins and supply is nearly gone... the last batches will not be the prime pieces we see today! BTW my '54 Izh import Tula is my favourite SKS I've ever owned.
 
My way of thinking: If you already got one or two shooters for sh*ts n giggles, and you still want another because the price and selection is good, then get one that has some collector value, or its extra nice, or all matching, non-refurb, unssued, and/or some less common years of productions.

Just took the plunge and bought a 1954 Izhevsk with Laminate stock from Westrifle. It was a very difficult decision to choose Hardwood or Laminate!

Not a bad deal actually with the free shipping and no 8% Manitoba PST. I hear on here a lot that his guns are pretty nice.

For Russian guns, its the only place I go. Maybe 8 or a dozen rifles in the last three years, every one of them has been good to superb.
 
That's funny. There were 20 SKS's on that site 2 days ago. Now there's only 18. Wonder who the guys were that bought them? ;)
