I just broke my 3rd decapping die( Lyman), I used this die just to primarily get rid of some Walnut cleaning media got stuck to my brass after tumbling to get rid of the lube.. would the corncorb be a better media.
Dont feel comfortable tumbling a loaded round just to get off the lube, According to Hornaday their ONE SHOT CASE LUBE doesnt contaminate the powder and primer .
Any thoughts on this. thanks

Use a Lee decapping die, it will (supposed to) just push up, they have for me when I got some berdan brass in the mix.

Media sold for cleaning brass cases will be the same size whether is walnut or corn cob. You can get smaller media but I'm not sure where.

there is Corn cob

Large Crushed Walnut
and
Small Crushed Walnut ------ Used in sandblasters / reptile bedding and brass polishing --- it is small enough that it will not stick in flash holes

Thanks, I not aware that there are different sizes of these media, will start looking who sells them.

I use One Shot as well and I'm very happy with it. Up until a few weeks ago I never tumbled my finished ammo, but I started to notice that my chambers, especially in my revolvers, were getting very dirty. So I've started tumbling my finished rounds and have noticed a huge difference in how dirty my chambers get, they stay much cleaner now.

I always tumble my loaded ammo to remove the lube. One hour does it.

I switched to fine walnut as a media. Does not clog anything. A 50 pound bag at Princess Auto was about $25

That will last several years.

Humm, might have to go hunting for this fine walnut you speak of. Dunno what I'll do with 50lbs 'cause all I need is about 6-8lbs. I use the green cob and it does a pretty good job of getting the cases pretty bright and clean looking 'cept for most primer pockets.

I decap before I throw it in the media so the primer pockets also get cleaned. Yes , sometimes the media does get caught in the primer hole but I just use a small screwdriver or small pick and push it out. The very few seconds it might take doesn't warrent spending time running around looking for bigger media. If your media is cleaning nicely, just pick up a very small cheapo tool and clean as necessary.

Big mouth,
One Shot doesnt contaminate or kill the primer and powder?, I might as well tumble after loading a comlpete round. and not to worry about media sticking in the flash hole

I do the same and also use the Lee Decapper...

I've witnessed this first hand out of JHSFs' tumbler. Seen both pistol & rifle cases come up clean after a few short hours. A quick shake through the sifter gets most of the media out easily enough. Big Als' Aquarium is your friend on this..

I use fine walnut as well; though mine comes from the oilfield. Doesn't clog flash-holes and I can get it for nothing most of the time. $28 last time I paid for it.

I usually use Lyman additive for untreated media. Works about as good as anything.
