What primer fits hornady 308 brass. I bought some 165 grain sst which was great but the older gentleman who reloads for me can't figure it out. I am no help because I don't know a thing about reloading.

I don't think he has reloaded hornady brass before and if they are as much of a pain as the other replies are saying he probably wouldn't have a reamer to make it fit. He is an old school guy with no computer knowledge so he asked me to ask hornady or look it up. I fail to see the problem with that. He does some damn good loads for me and yes he is extremely safe about it. Thanks though.
Most Hornady brass I have reloaded has not had shallow primer pockets. Only some I bought recently as loaded ammo and tried to reload had that problem.I have loaded a lot of Hornady 308 brass and did not find it any different than others.
maybe it's the way you worded the question, but if he reloads 308 win, he knows (should) what primer type is used. if he had an issue seating them properly (crimped primer pockets as others have mentioned) or something to that effect, that's one thing, but like i said i took it that he was asking which primer type to use.
my apologies if that is the case.
Thanks guys think it is easier to throw it out and get new brass
I just got 500 pieces of Hornady .223 brass, and standard CCI Small Rifle Primers work no problem.
You prime a bunch of brass in advance of loading? I only prime when I am going to be building rounds.
It appears that my way is almost counter productive since I almost always use one type of primer.
