Rangefinder dilema....

Wan to start doing some long rangeshooting,eventually getting out to a 1000 yards hopefully,
Maybe in 2 years,but would like to get out too at least 6-700 next year.
So I was looking at a Bushnell 1600 with ARC,A bushnllG-force 1300,and finally a Vortex ranger 1000.
All are similar for ranging deer and game but the 1300 and the 1600 will read a little bit farther on a target(200 yards)
So all advice is appreciated.

Sorry but why do you need a range finder to shoot targets? If you are setting them up you know how far they are away or at a range that has known distances.
Hunting or random shooting is different of course but the money spent on range finders cold be better spent on ammo.
As for which ones work best I've had good luck with Bushnell and great luck with Leica.
Sheep hunter is correct with regards to advertising vs in field performance.
As for shooting at distance, why wait? Learn you caliber of choice ballistic window and plug away you will be surprised how fast/easy hitting things. Shrinking groups is a different story but get out there.
 
If you cannot afore a true pulse G7 " $2000" get the new bushnell with arc and ballistic compensation. I think it does barometric presture as well ... I forget the model but it's getting fantastic reviews for the $500 range

Also ... If you shooting steel and you want to shoot 600-1000 go do it the next day your out , you don't need to wait 2 years lol
 
Want a rangefinder so we can know the distance we shooting,Shoot in different locations and different areas.
The 1000 yard shooting is a goal i am aiming for.lol.
Just want to do baby steps so I dont get really frustrated at it.
I would love to have the G7 but no way can I afford that.
Plus I dont even know if I will like the long range stuff,so I want something that I can use for just regular hunting as well.

I suspect you'd be lucky to range a deer-sized target at much over 200 yards with the Sport 450.
 
GET the Leica 1600 For around $800.00 its awesome blows away the bushnell 1600 arc and the leupold 1000 and I have tried them all the .MY friend has the Leupold and its better than the Bushnell and I bought the bushnell first wish I had just bought the Leica but cheaped out and ended up buying the Leica anyway as The bushnell Just would not range far enough and consistently enough

Respectfully disagree.

Swaro has a terrible reticle and suffers from severe washout. Zeiss is heavy and its ballistic functions are more hinderance than help. I don't feel like you get your money's worth out of either of those.

Swaro binos? Hell yes. Zeiss Scopes? In a heartbeat. But I wouldn't buy a rangefinder from either.

 
Both range very reliably to well past 1,000...in fact, I've ranged past 1,500 yards with both and the glass in both is quite impressive, a real consideration for a long-range rangefinder. Getting reliable 1,000 yard plus performance out of a Leica stand alone rangefinder is a challenge. Out of their bino/rangefinder combo....no problem. Reliable 1,000 yard plus stand alone rangefinders are pretty rare.
 
I have the bushnell arc, granted it was the first year that it came out that I bought it. This thing is hard to range anything over 500 yards, needs to be perfect conditions. Got tired of trying to get ranges past 500 with it and started doing some research. Decided to pull the trigger on a g7 br2 rangefinder. This thing is great, have had no issues ranging anything out to 1500 yards. The only crappy part about the rangefinder is the price 1799.99 at grouse river. But it has great glass and operates fairly easy after playing with it for a couple hours.

Some may have trouble believing an "Unfiltered Thought" on Swarovski from someone who can't pronounce the name. :D
 
I have owned a bunch of rangefinders over the years (still do) . I have lieca geovids which are great for ranges out to about 750 - 800 on deer . I have since purchased a Vectronix Terrapin and this thing is hands down the chit. My second choice would be the sworovski. I have also talked with people who have the bushnell rang finding binos and claim the rangfinder in them is better then the Lieca Geovids but the glass sucks.
