This would be a great hunting rifle for sure, I bet it will be restricted here in Kanada land of the meek.

Hopefully it comes out, I'm still waiting for the up sized Mini 14 they announced in the early 80's. Definitely on my want list.

Why wouldn't it come out? The SR-556's are already being sold in Canada.

why dont they just make bullpups. Every even remotely AR looking gun gets restricted but some how the bullpup isnt scary looking necause its futuresistic

Ruger has had a tendency to announce things before they are in production, then have problems and drop them. It's happened a couple of times on things I would have bought. So I'll wait and see.

Bull pups are only allowed if they cannot be fired when separated from the stock. - dan

and under $1,400. The feature that I like is that they are piston driven, which is awesome.

Hmm, I've heard something about that too, called the M14 or something?

The XGI was never put on the market.

Now if Ruger would make an M-14 my interest would zoom!

The M&P 15-22 is deemed a variant of the AR-15 and therefore restricted by name. Stupi yes but that's the way it works.
What does a bullpup have to do with any of this? There are no laws anywhere that state anything about bullpups being restricted, they are only restricted if the barrel or the overall length is too short or classed prohibited if the action can function without the stock which is why we get no SKS or M14 bullpup stocks here in Canada.
