Loaded up some more rounds for my 300 WSM, going to try some Barnes TTSX's in 180gr:

How do they perform out of your 30-06?

They shoot accurate out of my Savage going about 2500fps, I tested them in wet news paper at 10 and 100 yards. Penetration at 100 yards was 19" and penetration at 10 yards was 12".

Here is a picture of the 2 recovered 180gr TTSX, 10yd shot on the right, 100 yard shot in the middle and an unfired bullet on the left..
10yd expanded to .693"
100yd expanded to .585"

Was using the 160 grain Speer Mag Tip in my 280 Remington.
When the switch was made to 140 grain TTSX, it was to keep a similar overall length.
Very good bullet in whatever calibre you choose.
Once you get your velocity, check out how far before the velocity drops blow 2000 fps.
Barnes recommends the 2000 fps figure for reliable expansion.
If you were using 180 grain bullet previously, you might find the 165 Barnes similar in length.

From the Barnes Web Site:

30 Cal 165-grain TTSX Boattail .248 .442

I was loading the Nosler Accubond in 180gr and got lucky as the Barnes 180's just fit my magazine as well. I was able to go to the range and fire off some test rounds and I like what I see so far! Very impressed! :)
