Considering purchasing an older (20+ year old) Wingmaster in what appears to be great shape, but first I want to ask 2 quick questions:

Can I put newer barrels on it that would fit a new 870? Doesn't seem like the design has changed much, just not sure if there will be a compatibility issue.

Second, can I put new furniture on it, such as a new stock and forend?

Any other issues that I should be aware of?

Thanks for any help

Yes on the barrel... BUT, the Express barrels suck! The finish is horrible. And yes, on the stocks... actually the Prairie Hunter stocks from Boyd's are very nice, see pic below;

I'm sure most all the express barrels will fit, but I think they may be missing the spring loaded ball on the barrel ring, where the wingmaster locks down with the mag cap, I think the express mag cap works a little differently. I'm sure a rem expert will be along shortly to confirm this, or correct me.

The main danger is that the superior workmanship and finish of the older Wingmaster will forever ruin you for newer Express models and all of the Chinese clones (and I am an HP9-1 owner).

Stick an O ring under the barrel cap and it won't come loose!

Thanks folks. Appreciate the help. I'm not planning on putting crap on it, just want to know that if I want to put say a slug barrel or something like that I can do it.

Now to find one for a good price...

Yep. Mine is far older than 20(bought it BNIB from Eatons for $300) and it takes any barrel made for an 870. No bits of rubber or modifications required.
"...have t-shirts that old..." Socks and underwear. snicker.
