How much it costs depends on if you plan to do well or just go out and have fun.
For just to have fun get a Production gun and the cheapest factory ammo your gun likes ( reloaders cost over 1000 for one that works)
If you plan to do well then get the reloader and find cheapest source for good bullets and powder etc., and plan to do at least 10,000 rounds a year to get better.
It may be cheaper to just go with a 9MM Open gun as you will progress faster if you dry fire proper practice ( costs nothing) and you will save money on ammo as you will hit most everything you aim at ( I said AIM at)
New or real good Used 9mm open gun $2000 -$3000.00 10,000 rounds of cheap 9mm 4000.00
The real costs are match fees and travel for larger matches once you are hooked, expect $4-7,000 to attend a world shoot.
Been there , done that.
