Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hey

Yeah I did check online it still says Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date. I'm now 63 days from date the application was received.

Anyway to speed it up by calling the Ontario CFO? Or will it just be a waste of time.

Speeding it up at that point I really don't know but mine said the same thing as yours the only difference is that mine stated it has been issued there for I assume it's on the way to me.

I sent my PAL/RPAL application Setptember 30 xpresspost, and tracking number says it was received Oct 2nd. Its now Oct 18 and nothing shows up online when I try to search the status of my application on the RCMP website. It just says:

"30010 The personal information entered does not match our records. For further assistance, please contact the Canadian Firearms Program at 1-800-731-4000."

I am from Ontario, and anxious to get my Pal and rpal license in the system so that I can get the interviews done. Anyone else send their application in around the same time as me? Any suggestions would be great. I just hope I'm doing things right.

Thanks guys

Right now your going to be waiting till beginning-mid November to see online. Keep an eye out for when your visa is charged. Call them about a week after that. Once you call just be polite and basically call back every week or so. If you're facing in your results call them when you're going to fax and call after to make sure they got them.

I did notice that you have to put all your info correctly, not to say that you aren't. For example I keep on trying and the same thing was happening when I finally discovered what I was doing wrong. When it tells you to put your birth place I was putting Ontario when on my application it was Toronto. It has to be exact. Now at the same time your application info there is a possibility that they never entered it in the system yet. I noticed they really stand on there 28 day holding period before they do anything. Also they never entered my info until they deposit my cheque. Which was a month after sending in my application. They received my application August 7th deposit my cheque and entered my info on September 5th. My references called in and I got approved on October 17th.

Ok, they call to interview me a couple days ago. After the interview, I request for two new reference since my old reference was my old employee and recently, I fired both of them.

Anyway, they agree to replace the reference, ask me to wait for the form since they will send by mail, I was like well, you can fax that form to me then I sent by mail to you. They denied it, they prefer their slow mail instead. well, I will have to wait another two more week to a month again.

On a side note, they received my PAL since July 18.

They got my rpal upgrade app sept 9 and its on its way to me now I cant complain at all under 2 months total

Zero reason that a faxed copy of that info would not suffice since they accept faxed copies of other documents.

I'm pretty close to you Challenge, I sent my RPAL app in and it was received on Sept. 23. I have not had my cheque deposited (probably should have gone visa for speed I'm thinking now...but alas I did not) and my info is not online yet. Hopefully they will be getting around to it any day now and I can hardly wait, though I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself. I know I still have interviews and processing and a potentially long wait ahead of me. I'm hoping to have a license in hand before the end of the year, but won't be surprised if I start 2014 still waiting.

On a side note: at the advice of my CFSC/CRFSC instructor I included information about my ex-wife (and got her signature) on my app even though we've been separated for over two years (he advised full disclosure, to show them I have nothing to hide). Is this likely to slow down the process for me/anyone think it's likely she'll be contacted as well? I'm not concerned about them contacting her, we have a great friendship to go with our two kids, which is also part of the reason I included her info/signature. I'm just hoping there won't be a lengthy delay over it.

It's stupid that they won't even fax over the copies, but I went through the same thing recently with the same answers.

They send you a copy of your original application with a sticker on the top right of each page, which is your application number. You then get an additional page which basically just says "Yes I'm the new reference, I signed here, and I read over the application to assure everything was correct." They also refuse to let you fax it back as they want the original signature...

There is no facepalm big enough for the farce of 'gun control' in Canada for starters...

RPAL application sent August 7th. Received by CFP on August 12th. My credit card was charged on September 10th, and from that point on I started calling about every week or so, even though it wasn't showing up online. Finally showed up online around September 20th, though at that point they were saying it was still too new to be ready to do interviews. I called on October 11th and they let me do my phone interview. Neither of my references have been contacted yet. I'm at 70 days and waiting...still says its in progress online.

I had my wife call in thinking they wanted to talk to her for sure. They said the wife's and ex wife's aren't references so there is no need to talk to them. I was so surprised. So ya they just spoke to my references and that was that. But they did say that if they feel the need to contact the wife's they will. So yo never know.

Will the cfc/cfo give me my pal# over the phone or do i have wait?

I remember reading that the CFC's wont at all. But if your'e nice to the CFO they may give it out to you over the phone.

I was wondering too as I am waiting for my RPAL/PAL in the mail as well. But it should be here this week and I have already bought and shot my Sig plenty so i will be patient for just a few more agonizing days! Good luck to you though.

Have your references call in with your application ID. I understand that as soon as they do that, you will progress to the final stage where the CFO does the final approval and you are good to go.

Wow! Mine was received Aug 26th, I've been calling in on a weekly basis and my app is still in pre-interview stage. I called in today and they told me that the interviewers have not received my application yet, and to wait another week. Strange how yours was received after mine, and issued so fast?! I'm calling in again at the end of the week to see if that helps.

Spoke to them again this morning. Apparently my picture is now in the system but my application has not been scanned in. The very nice rep on the phone said that usually the app is scanned within a day or two of the picture and then I can do my interview. He said to try back again in 2 days. He also recommended that I have my references call in to do their interviews so that the app can get processed faster. I'm definitely going to do that. Now at 55 days since receipt.

Unfortunately one of my references is in the middle of midterms, and the other is dealing with a sick family member. So asking them to call in right now isn't really an option - I'll have to wait will the CRF calls them. On the plus side, one of them texted me this morning saying they received a message about my application, the other hasn't heard anything.

Called the cfo office in Ontario earlier today. Receptionist tried passing me through but their line was very busy. Was asked to leave name and number and someone will call me back. They called back in 30 min. The gentlemen I spoke to said he will inform the officer that's working on my file that I called to inquire on the status of my application. Within 2 hours status changed to issued. 63 days from received to issues for restricted.
