Vz58 mag adapter question

If you mean the .223 adapter working on a 7.62x39 i don't believe it does and its not designed to...........but ive seen people try it with some success i even sold one with the buyers intension of trying this very thing because of a few members apparent successful attempts i'm sure some forum searching might lead to some clues

There is an adaptor for robinson arms xcr mags. Takes 7.62 xcr micro pistol mags, 10 rounds.
I see Wolverine has 7.62 ar15 mag well adaptors (B&T)

Btw who makes the mag adapter seen here?

Also who makes the folding buffer tube pictured?

I used to have a B&T mag well adapter for the 7.62. It was fun to shoot the XCR 10 round pistol mag but it had a big down side that I didn't like. The bolt wont stay open after emptying the mag. An open bolt feature after shooting the last round to signify that your empty is a big must for me.

That's exactly why I got rid of my AK ;)

Would the vz58 mag adapter (the one that allows you to use ar mags) work on a 7.62 rifle with 7.62 ar mags?

The answer is a definite maybe. 5440fight has this setup on a compact and it works fine. I have the adapter for my 11.8" carbine, but need to do some machining to provide clearance for the mags to seat fully and haven't had the time to get to it. The 5.56 adapter fits fine in the 7.62 magwell, though. The problem on mine is up under the feed ramp, any STANAG magazine (5.56 or 7.62 doesn't matter, they are all the same external dimensions) hits the front corners on the receiver and comes about 1/8" short of seating fully. I have been stupid busy for ages and now have hunting season coming up, hopefully after that I can get to this and get the machining done.

Edit - This is the thread we started discussing this in: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...pters?p=8774927&highlight=adapter#post8774927

Is a 5.56 ar magazine itself the same as a 7.62 ar mag? Or are the followers different?

Followers are the same, except the anti-tilt legs are shortened on the 7.62 mags. If the follower doesn't tilt, they don't feed right.

The shape of the feed lips are different, too.
