Wortners is an old fashioned shop with a very experienced and talented gunsmith. He does the maintenance work on the local Chatham police and OPP weapons.
If you have a tough gun to fix, George is likely your man.
As to speed, do you want it done quickly or do you want it done right?
In a perfect world I would like both. What's your definition of quickly?? 18 months as one person has waited??
Again this is not to bash Wortner, I just wanted to see if this was normal. It would have been good if I was given a heads up on the wait time. Normally I am quite patient and I think I still am on this one but I had just purchased this 686 (no dash) from another gunnutz member who had purchased it at an estate sale and he claimed he didn't fire it but the first time out I had many fail to fires due to light primer hits which was a known issue with the first batch of 686's.
So here I am sending my new to me 686 in for warranty repair in March thinking it will be ready to go for the summer. It now looks like I will be lucky to try it before the snow fly's.
Again, not bashing Wortners, he has been very pleasant on the phone, he explained the issue with his daughter and other issues so I understand some of the delay but this just seemed an abnormal amount of time to me.
Count yourself lucky that you can stop by and have something fixed while you wait.
