I'm looking at getting myself a solid 22lr and I've been most drawn towards the colt 1911 rail gun.

Does anyone have one? I know alot of you have the gsg or the sig but what about the colt?

Also does anyone know a place to buy this near Saskatoon? maybe Regina? They seem to be harder to come by.

I own the .22 rail gun and am quite happy with it. For the money there really isn't any good reason to choose it over the gsg, other than the name of course.

I own the Colt Gold Cup Trophy .22 and really enjoy it. Some factors that caused me to choose it over the GSG are: more durable finish on the Colt (powdercoated), metal sights, wraparound rubber grips, field strip more similar to full size 1911 than the GSG.

This is what I'm thinking about, that and people reporting micro cracks in the slide or failures of the slide itself freak me out with the gsg.

For durability and style points, you can't go wrong with the Ruger Mark III. It will still probably look and function like this 20 years from now, unlike the Colt.

I like my GSG, I'll out live me. Browning is too light, and 80% of the originals size. I didn't know it came with a rail, which is just wrong on a 1911,IMO. ;)
Also have the Ruger MKIII, but it doesn't make it to the range as often. It's solid and practical, but not much not a fun gun.

OK. What, in your opinion, makes one gun fun, and another gun practical. I have 1911 platform, Beretta 92 platform, CZ platform, revolver, shot a 1912 Erfurt Luger, and found all to be fun. The only thing not fun about the Ruger is cleaning it.

Ruger's are a excellent gun, no doubt. But the best way I can discribe it, is:
Taking a Mk I,II, or III to the range, is like taking your cousin to the prom.
I know I didn't enjoy it, and I don't think he was too thrilled about it, either!:(

I have owned the Colt .22 rail model for almost 2 years now and have at least 3000 rounds through it.
After break in it shoots anything I want to feed it.
I love this 1911.
Buy 1.
Cheers

Do you want a handgun you use two hands to shoot with or do you want a super accurate Walther GSP that is made for one hand "real men"style target shooting ?
