On November 2nd, 2013, TDSA Canada will be holding the first offering of our Precision Rifle II course. While this course will build on the content of Precision Rifle I, PR1 is not a prerequisite for PR2, all potential students are welcome. This is the last TDSA course of the year.

The goal of the course is learn how to fire perfect shots under any condition or position. In PR1 we learned how to use natural point of aim, breathing and trigger manipulation to our advantage to make hits in the prone position at 100 yards. We will review these key fundamentals during this course.

In Precision Rifle II, we are making it harder by learning how to take shots from many different positions, such as standing, kneeling, and supported positions. All of this will take place on a 100 yard range, but the skills we learn during this course can be applied to shorter and longer distances.

For hunters, the application is obvious: a hunter is rarely going to be able to make a nice prone shot on a target in the field. Mastering standing and supported positions are going to be essential to making a hit on your target in this application.

For law enforcement/military, there are many situations where shooting from the prone position will not be possible. Long grass will make a prone position difficult, shooting from behind a vehicle will require experience of shooting in a standing supported position.

For competitors: many competitions designing their stages to include shots taken from kneeling, off hand and supported positions. Having just shot the GAP Grind in Florida myself, I would say at only 25% of the shots I took were from a stable prone position. Attached here is a picture of a position from this year's GAP Grind.

While the course was designed with bolt guns in mind, we are open to students bringing any rifle they want to learn how to shoot with more precision and skill, including AR-15s (they have to have optics).

And of course, as in PR1, we will be implementing the "Only Hits Count" approach to precision shooting.

Come join us on November 2nd at the Hamilton Hunting and Angling Association for our new course. If you have any questions about the course, please let us know. To register for this course, please follow this link:
