I copied just part of the document, but this is really close to home.
I didn't realize we had wolves this far south in the Interior.

Close Call - Wolf Pack Encounter
Location: Near Merritt BC, Lower Michael Road, BCTS Chart
Date of Incident: 15/10/2013
Details of Incident: Forest Worker had just started a road traverse and was approximately 100m from truck
when at least 5 aggressive wolves came within 3m of her.
She called her dogs and reached for her bear spray.
One of her dogs stayed with her while the other barked and started fighting with the wolves.
She went to the truck with the one dog and called for help on the local radio channel on her handheld radio.
When she got to the truck she called the dog that had been defending her and it came.
It had sustained major injuries and had to be put down. The worker was not physically injured.

Keep your witts about you and your young ones out in the bush.
I've taugh my two not to scream and yell as kid's like to do when
romping around out there.
One never knows what ears are picking up and deciding to stalk
you down.
My time out in the bush this year has me convinced the deer count
are down.
Could be because of the nomading of the wolf herds?

Awesome dog right there!!!

And this is another reason we should be allowed to carry a handgun. Maybe one day our government will smarten up and realize responsible owners are not the cause of crime...

A few years ago I had a pack follow me while I walked back to camp at dusk while moose hunting near Thunder Bay ON. They didn't get closer than 50 yards or so but I was glad I had my rifle.

It may be too late for any really effective predator managment strategy here in BC. What was once considered a rare event is not so much in a peak predator cycle. We here in BC are in one right now and I am not surprised at this news. Griz, wolves, cougars are at peak levels IMO. Griz...well friggen stupid by my read this year.
Sightings of once a rare wolf are becoming common. Cats prowling city fringes...common. Why near the urban settings? Because that is where the deer are fleeing to.

The only thing that will take care of this issue is a crashed food source of which IMO we are seeing in all ungulate populations across BC. By my read we should be seeing a predator crash in next couple years thank goodness. And a long haul back up to mid 80s levels at best over the next decade.

Question is: How many more of these events are required for some action to take place. Answer, wont matter because there is no appetite to really deal with the issue the way it was done back in the day.

End of Rant. 22-250 being tuned up for some winter exterminations ongoing.

There have been lots of wolves in 7-11 for the last few years. Deer populations are way down. Normally I'd see herds of 10-15 every day but I only saw 8 total in 2 weeks.

It's going to get worse before it gets better as they move into other areas looking for food.

I think a bunch of wimps are making ghost stories too close to Halloween. The only time I see one close is when i walk up to one I just shot. They avoid humans at all costs. People should stay home and read monster stories while leaving the hunting to real men.

It's never too late, and make sure any wolf sightings or kills are posted on Wolf Tracker on Facebook or Wolftracker.ca or PM'd to me here. The Map is coming along nicely......

A few years ago in aitikoken ontario I had a wolf 5ft from me when I stood up to stretch my legs and looked behind me there he was when he buggered off I turned back around to find his buddy flanking me I didn't shot because you need a tag to harvest a wolf and I didnt have one and i really didn't feel threatened even though I probably should have it was one of those moments that I enjoyed and will never forget. But sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I didn't get up when I did. Maybe I would be wolf scat lol.

I have had to shoot wolves off my dog before. I was ####ting my pants, it was a real close call.

One time I got called into work at about 3 in the morning in the winter it was dead calm with a bit of snow falling. I was trying to start a gas plant up by myself, the plant is enclosed with a chain link fence all the way around. I was inside the fence farting around with a valve that would not open. Was alternating between being on my hands and knees and laying on my back. I thought I heard something rattle the chain link fence so I looked around and saw nothing because it was so dark. Got the valve open which brought gas into the plant and the flare stack started which in turn illuminating everything, went to get up out of the snow and saw a wolf standing 10 yards from me directly on the other side of the fence, his head was down and he was staring right at me. When I got up and he walked off looking over his shoulder. It was ####ING CREEPY!!! His tracks showed he paced up and down the fence line and he hit the fence and knocked the horror frost off right behind me.
