To render a regulator, and the PCP rifle that it was a part of, inoperative.

This pic shows a near-microscopic piece of aluminum which had somehow worked it's way into the regulator, and had become embedded in the high pressure side seat of the reg.
That tiny trouble-maker could not even be seen while the seal was sitting in place deep within the regulator housing, and even once it was removed, if not for the use of a jeweller's loupe to examine the seal, it may have been missed.

Did that rifle have any sort of a filter. I'm asking because I had major filter failure on my B50, luckily I guess the debris blew back into the pump so I had very little cleanup when I took it apart and now I don't have a filter at all.

Yes, the rifle had a filter on the input of the reservoir.
I suspect that that tiny bit of aluminum was probably present within either the reservoir tube, or the regulator body from the factory, and not introduced during filling.
It just took a while to work loose and find it's way to the seal.
