Hey guys, I just got a dandy 795ss and I'm thinking of a scope upgrade, right now it's got a Bushnell 3x7 20mm on it and works fine, but I'm thinking of going with a 40 series, the gun is very accurate and would benefit from a new scope, any suggestions on what kind of mount setup I would need?? I'd prefer a high mount setup, any suggestions would be great, Thanks.

I don't think you need anything exotic to mount a scope to a 795. The receiver is grooved for dovetail/rimfire rings, so they should be easy enough to source. I don't think you need high rings for a 40mm objective either, medium should do. (will depend on your scope choice though) Before I got my 795, I read on a big US rimfire forum that some people had issues with rings coming loose on the cast 795 receiver, so there was allot of talk about mounts like this remedying the situation with such a long clamping area; http://www.dlairgun.com/Mounts/Leap...tegral_Medium_Profile_Mount_RGPM2PA-30M4.html

I picked that to show an example of the style, not to tell you "get that one". My 795 wears normal rimfire rings, something cheap/Chinese that came with the cheap/Chinese scope I bought used. The scope is half decent, and a 3-9x AO, so no real incentive to pick something else.

That mount listed will hold for sure. Just purchased a 795 for a project but before I took it apart I installed a Tasco 2.5-10 Target/Varmint to check function. Shot really quite well, although the trigger leaves much to be desired. For the price the scope is ok, has adjustable objective.

Thanks guys for all the advice, I picked up a tasco 3-9x32 today, 60 bucks new and came with a hoppes 9 bore snake, sweet deal, scope looks like nice quality, um gonna thread lock the ring acres (blue stuff) too see if that will hold. I'll let tad know how it holds up, cheers

Looking at your avatar...if you have any gophers in your area, I'll fly out there from Ontario next spring and personally inspect your 795 set-up for you. :)

The BKL mounts have a good reputation for holding well. They are also available at D&L (who does have a good reputation).

So thread lock was a failure.....just went to the range and after 50 rounds or so it slid well over an inch it was actually filing the dove take so it was tight enough just wouldn't stop sliding. Looks like I'll order those rings you guys suggested on here and see if that fixes it, my budget build isn't such a budget anymore lol

Sounds more like a ring problem than a thread lock problem. The metal in the receiver of a 795 is soft enough that decent rings should grab it well.

I have burris rings on my model 60(same gun just tube fed) and they are rock solid. I have them torqued to 22in/lbs. You can get a D.I.P rail and use any rings you want.

I'm gonna wait and see what the gun shop here has, I just got the scope there so I might get some kinda deal on somthing, the gun is super accurate though, even the irons was really impressive, but the marking hates winchester m22 bulk stuff, so far 1 in 5 rounds is very under powered, very quiet, fail to eject, stove pipes, and hits way low, CFO mini mags are perfect, consistent sound accuracy and never a single problem.

Well I had interesting weekend at the range, but to start things off I did something that most people are going to call me foolish but I solved my sliding scope problem, Ultra bond(basicly super strong super glue). Yes I glued the rings to the receiver, I don't intend on ever taking it off, even stripping it down to clean doesn't cause a problem. Cleaned it before I went an fired 1000 rounds of winchester m22 bult stuff again, 1000 fires 1 fail to eject, don't know what happened but whatever I cleaned out fixed a major problem I had, still some under powered but that's fine for bulk. Cci's are still top but it's working much better, scope never twitched, and can hit a empy shotgun hull 9/10 with the winchester 10/10 with the mini mags at 80 yards, very happy with my gun now, tried grouping at this range a was getting sub inch groups at 80, my best 3 in one hole and the other 2, 3/4 inch to the right in a 5 shot group, which probably was my error, just figured I'd give yas a update on my fix for cheap, cheers

Yeah so my cheap fix didnt work, noticed that the scope once againg is creeping back!!! and superglued!!!! WTF!!!! Now its JB welded on there so if it creeps again im giving up and getting rid of it as im not investing anymore money or time, polished every moving part and it started working great and was holding last shot open for about the first 100 rounds and fell right back into old habits, next gun will be a bolt gun. off to the range to see what happens.
