Sub $500, 9mm recommendations for 1st pistol?

I was on a budget and didn't wanna buy another one when I have other guns on the list, so I ended up going with an SP-01 Shadow as my first centerfire handgun. Solid chunk of former commie steel, feels good in my hand, popular in action shooting (what I bought it for), extremely happy with my choice. The downer is that mags are anal rape without vaseline price-wise.

I read that review from the previous post and it would seem that the function tests done (at least on that particular firearm) did not come out favourable at all with the High Point. That is despite the claims that they are "a tank". An unreliable tank may as well be a slingshot.

It's an ungainly thing to shoot, coupled with the fact that it has a retardedly high bore offset with a pathetic magazine capacity.

I use regular cz75 mags in my pre b cz75. Don't know why you said they are difficult to find. I buy them for $35 a piece.

Magazine well on pre-b models are more narrow. You may open them with the file, but You have to know what You are doing.
Only original, factory made, CZ 10 rounders should work ok, but if You would like to test a pinned CZ magazine You sure will find the difference.
To prove just that, CZ USA website sells "pre-ban only" magazines for the CZ pistols. They are simply different from the current ones.

Most of the aftermarket magazines won't work in pre-b pistol either.
Number of changes made to the original pistols at the "B" model is significant, and parts interchangeability between the two guns is just not possible in many cases.
