It makes you wonder . Dealer A had stripped receivers for sale not long ago . Now they don't . Now Dealer B has stripped receivers for sale . (wonder here they got them .)
Dealer A announces they have M1 parts for sale( why didn't Dealer A build M1's & sell them?) Guess they didn't have all the parts .
Now you can buy stripped receivers from one dealer & most of the parts from another dealer .
But the rest of the parts you need are not readily available . If they were don't you think the Dealer A would have assembled M1's which sell at a premium and are in high demand ?
Good luck to all who are attempting to create a Heinze 57 M1 ;)

Just a little Fri night conspiracy theory Laugh2

The E.T.A. on my build is next May. This is mostly because of cash flow. It's a winter project. I have been looking for receivers for about 4 months now and no one had them. Marstar's site always had the parts listed on their website but no receivers. Where was dealer A hiding them from the general public?

I heard a rumour last year that a dealer in Quebec had a bunch of Italian receivers stashed away hoping to one day export them to the US for big bucks. Obviously the US Gov is not going to change the import laws for Garands anytime soon. Maybe this dealer hooked up with SFRC?

I can't believe the prices of M1 garands nowadays and I bought two only like 10 yrs ago and the price is triple ... CRAZINESS! I have one I am planning on re-doing completely with a beautiful stock and all but just didn't have the time and kept putting it aside ... maybe it's time! ;)

Lol..no clue but good luck connexion...
I considered doing the same thing but due to having no clue and the fact that by the time youre done..it will prob cost a thousand bucks for a heinz57...kinda turned me off.

Crossing fingers for Korean imports

Ive got some stuff but its going fast since these receivers showed up. AND i bought 3 receivers for myself so theres another dent in the supply.

This is a project for the patient and sharp eyed gun show enthusiast. Asa side note, if you bought all the parts that were available online you are going to be out $1100 or so. But don't forget a Krieger Barrel $560 barrel( Lucky to score a VAR barrel, = to match quality), + gunsmithing and a park job (If done right) costing a few more bills. An expensive project, but worth it if you do it right. I am sure someone has got it in thier head that they can swing a cheap rifle off and sell for the $$$$$ they go for. Seen a few train wrecks for sale on the EE.
I did some searching and BMR and PB parts are available, but are at a premium. So this leads me to go and buy SA marked parts. That's not bad as they are better priced.

a few items to look out for. The gas cylinder is one key part, new as possible and a late design, completely parked as well (they are stainless steel). I would want a op rod in like new condition. I almost forgot the action and trigger guard need to be checked for wear. this is were the trigger guard cams up and lock into the action pulling the action/barrel into the stock. they are prone to wear on the trigger lock fingers. Check the action too. It can result in a loose stock fit. You might think about the late sheet metal trigger guard opposed to the milled.

Me too !!! hahaha what ? 20 years that rumor has floated around in some way or shape

i find it strange that some people are complaining about the costs... this is one of the more expensive platforms to get into... both the M1 and M1a ... Its like buying a mercedes benz and #####ing about the price of parts... DUH !!!!!

they should stick to nagants and other junk

Still waiting for those Korean Garands to hit our shores and drop the price.

I bought one of those Beretta receivers for my Dad. He cringes at current M1 prices, but this allows the whole one piece at a time. Build it over the course of a few months, even years. Just a little project in the corner that'll turn into a gun eventually. Something to do and think about on those crappy stuck inside days.

In 7 years I've seen one table of Garand parts at the shows in Edmonton and they were few and poor quality. Calgary Had one guy that came every year but i haven't seen him since 09. Its certainly cheaper to buy a complete rifle but we are talking about folks that bought receivers so not really relevant.

If I didnt already have a complete gun with the cracked receiver, I would not have bought this stripped receiver.
I can't see buying a gun piece by piece being at all practical.

Having said that, I am toying with the idea of rebarrelling to a different calibre based on the 30-06 case.
Maybe a 35 Whelen or even 400 Whelen wildcat. :)

It's going to be a long project I think. I'm probably looking at years but I'll slogg away. I think it should be fun.
