The question came up why no pistol caliber carbines. We may add them in later but for right now managing recoil is going to be a huge part of this. Lots of shots in short periods of time from different positions. Pistol carbines have almost zero recoil and may have a bit of an advatage. We shall see after we run a couple. Sounds interesting, for me I am a member at the Abby range, but I have a contract coming up that I may not be able to compete. (hopefully will know in a week what the schedule will be like)
At the very least I will try to be there to check it out, even if only for 30 min if I can squeeze it in.

Yes absolutely! Like I said we are totally mobile with this and have everything we need other than the range. So you tell us you want it at your range and we come and set it up. Not really anything for you to do as we have all the targets, frames, stands and everything. Completely self contained.
 
Can I come watch? I don't have anywhere near all the required gear at this point and I've never done something like this competitively but I think it'd be really fun to come and check out and meet some new people.
 
Sure thing. You have until Nov 30 to get all the stuff though so why not come out and give it a try? Don't worry for those that have never done this kind of thing we will walk you through it in easy to understand terms and make sure you are good to go BEFORE we start shooting.
 
Longshot, any rules for the rifles, pistol and support gear?

If I can get away, I would be very interested in giving this a try.

Course of fire, what stuff we need or bring.... all the good newbie stuff.

Jerry be great to see you down! I think everything you need is in the original post! Only other thing I can think of is lunch and raingear if needed. The rifle must be a centerfire caliber ie .223, 7.62x39, .308 etc. No rimfire. Pistol can be pretty much anything you like as long as its not rimfire, and it fits safely in a holster. Let keep it to iron sights only on the pistols as well please. Want to bring a revolver? Fill your boots!
I think I'm going to leave the course of fire off the net for now. It will be a surprise for everyone that way. It's going to be a good shoot with lots of rounds and challenging shots with limited time. Sometimes you will be pushing yourself to get well aimed shots in the amount of time alotted. Other times you will have plenty of time to get them off but you may have to move to get to the firing line or shoot from a more difficult position. In the end you will have a great time with a bunch of like minded individuals in a fun, safe and professionally run environment.
 
CQB is great chance to try out various guns in your collection. I have posted credible scores with Ar-15s (5 different models) CZ858 in 223 and 7.62 (3 different barrel lengths - two with peep sights and one with a SPARC), an SKS HiPoint in both 9mm and 40S&W, an SKS, loading with stripper clips and a M1 Carbine.

I have lost count of how many different pistols I have tried.

I would like to try a revolver and a Lee Enfield. But I would ask the organizer to let me fill both to capacity, to reduce the reloading chores. A Lee Enfield could post a decent score, I think, if I had 10 rounds in it. Same thing with a revolver, shooting double action.
 
Are muzzle brakes allowed on the rifle?

Can you have the coloured plastic post on the HG?

My AR has a brake. My HG has fibre optics sights.

for carry gear, is IPSC style gear ok or do you want more service type webbing/vests? Might be able to get a friend to come but he is an IPSC shooter so has all that type of stuff.

Yes yes and yes! Bring what you have! Muzzle break is fine. I'll make sure I put you next to a guy with a 7 inch barrel. No one will even notice your break. ;) Whatever carry equipment you want to bring is fine. Only thing I ask is your holster have at least one type of retention. Other than that it's all good.
 
Nice work on putting this together Longshot. I'd like to attend but will be working out of town. If the next one turns up on days off I'll make a run out your way, and would definitely love to see one in the Okanagan some day.
 
Jerry - the problem we have seen in Ontario CQB is shooters with IPSC race rigs that need to be un-locked to draw or locked to move around the range because they don't hold the firearm securely otherwise. Several shooters have dropped their holsters when advancing or not been able to draw because they didn't un-lock it.
