It's official , 30-06 too small for white tail!!!Magnum as must!!!

Deer are like viruses... they quickly become immune to modern methods of eradication.... we used to use 30-30 but they became immune to it so we switched to .30-06..... unfortunately today's deer are more robust and almost immune to the .30-06 and require, at minimum a 300 win mag..... I am scared to see what the next generation of super deer will look like.... I am also very concerned that my favorite hunting knife will be unable to cut through the hide as I am assuming it will be made of Kevlar....

Consider the source and go from there.
It was and is one mans opinion.
A lame attempt at upselling and even lamer attempt at marketing.
Dead is dead, doesnt matter if it is a .22 taking a Polar Bear in the High Arctic Circle or
a Remington 6mm in the Stubble Fields of the Central Provinces.
Stop reading the guys trying to take your money and Get Out Hunting, cause we all know
that the game aint dying if the lead aint flying.
Tight Groups,

Ok here's my study on caliber size verses section desnity
hunted all my life , 30-30 , 3006, 7mm mag , now the final rifle
acustom rig 6.5x55 custom loads
Here is the study
1elk shot at the exact same time as a 338 lapua at 100 yards
6.5 passed through and the 338 did not
3 white tails so far all we're clean pass through
hard ball size exit wounds
all shots were anchoring shots through front shoulders
instant death befor they hit the ground
All 4 animals did not take a second step
ok here it is
the little 264 ( 6.5 )
is a deadly killer
all the other guys at hunt camp are trading in there
338,300,7wsm
for a little old 6.5

cheers

That was the stupidest thing I've read in a long time. I have to go tell my .30-06 that its been living a lie since the mid 60's. I don't know how I'm going to explain this. I better get a .300 wm so the bullet passes clean through instead of passing clean throu... wait...

Laugh2Laugh2

How true!! Like all the guys who tried to convince me that my 348 Win was a decent 100 yard rifle!! Funny the first buck I shot with it was 338 yards and the bullet went clean through at that distance!!

.....Must be all the GMO soybeans affecting deer growth, I heard that some of the modern deer sport kevlar hair coats and have ceramic plates for bones.
I just hope 45-70 is still good enough for bison.

I have to admit, I was so anxious about filling my WT doe tags with my 308 that I caved in and bought a 375 Ruger. I hope it's enough.

What is the magnum BS.

I am pretty sure that is the hunting equivalent of the .408 CheyTac. 419 grains of whitetail stopping goodness in a soft point, good to about 2800 M just in case you need to take any medium length shots . The only officially recognised round of the NorthAmuricanWhitetailHuntersWhoReadtooMuchGunsandAmmoandShopatWholeSaleSports Association NAWHWRMGASWSS Ass. for short.

Simple marketing scheme really.

How do you make more money?

Convince the undecided people that they need something bigger to do the job.More profit in 220gr projectiles with 65grains behind it than 140gr projectile with 40grains behind it.

Haven't seen many SA action rifle be less $$ than the same model in a LA.Brass, ammo, components , bigger scope and rings.

They can't sell with honesty and experience so might as well be like every other corporation and sell with half truths , deceptions and lies.

I think we're over reacting a little here.

This was a collection of tips from various WSS staffers to add to the mailing, so you know right from the start they aren't all experienced hunters.
I expect there's a fair amount of internet and customer "wisdom" represented. Do you get bent out of shape everytime you hear something strange at a gun counter?

The magnum recommendation makes sense in a way, as the magnums do offer a longer Point Blank Range in general.
Except for the fact that most shots at deer aren't 400 yards, and to shoot at that range you need to be an expert shot and have practiced for it, and also can handle a magnum's recoil without flinching.

All the deer I have shot so far have been less than 100 yards, and 308 Win has handled it just fine. Don't need or want a 7 RM or 300 WM.
