Not sure if this is a coyote or wolf. My first instinct was wolf, but then I am in central New Brunswick. So, what do you think?

I hope I posted those correctly.

I hear tell there are more "Coy-dogs" in the east and that is what it might be. I have also heard rumours of coyote wolf crosses. But I have not seen anything I thought was a "reliable source" on that. Normally wolves kill coyotes on sight.

I actually read an article on coyote/wolf hybrid, and supposedly that's what our eastern coyotes are. I wish I could remember that article, I'd link it up. Over the last couple if years there have been Wolf sightings in the northern part of the province. I believe one of them was actually confirmed a wolf since it was shot. I was thinking it might be a wolf due to its features in the first pic, and also it seems unusually large for a coyote.

More seriously, there's coyote-wolf hybrids out there too. They just published a report from around Algonquin park in Ontario that the coyotes and coyote-wolf hybrids are able to bring down moose. Baby and old moose, but moose nonetheless. I guess they tagged a bunch of them then whenever the coyotes stayed in one place for three hours they went in to investigate. That was a sign they were feeding, they analyzed the remains to conclude what was going on.
