I sent that link to a friend of mine who loves to hunt Moose, is looking for a hunting partner(s) and is only a short distance from their area. She is also a member here on the board and is not some girly girl type hunter who is going to sound like a valley girl out there and make sure her make up is done and that her clothes match for this years IN crowd! She is out there to hunt and has a severe case of Moose fever!! The response back to her was male hunters only!!

Pretty sad!! :(

If I was back in Ontario I would be joining her for the Moose hunt. Her hunting partner for many years had to drop out just a few short weeks before the hunt for some unfortunate circumstances leaving her high and dry with a Cow tag for WMU 21. She owns a 29 foot camper they use for the hunt but unfortunately her partner owned the truck to pull it with. So she has been missing out on her annual Moose hunt this fall and I can't blame her for being pretty sad over the whole deal. She lives for the fall hunt.

Those narrow minded guys looking for a few hunting partners just missed a golden opportunity for a great person to join their camp!! Instead of taking the time to go through the interview process as they explained to her they shut her down right off for being female.:confused:

Right now she is fuming from the response and I don't blame her!! All the fellow had to was say sorry we have filled the positions and nobody would be the wiser but to just act like a bunch of 8 year old boys in their tree fort yelling down "no girls allowed", well like I told her that says a lot about the type of hunting partners you'd have been stuck with!

Maybe sad, but don't get bent about being politically correct here - it's likely just accomodations issues. . If I'm in a hunt camp with shared sleeping accomodations, neither my wife nor I are interested in 'co-ed' facilities. I'm not getting undressed in front of some woman I don't know, and I'm quite OK with the idea of her not getting undressed for bed in front of me. Same goes for washroom facilities. It's no different than women-only gyms.

Your friend just needs to find a hunt camp with co-ed facilities. They are out there.

I understand that whole heartedly but they never even took the time to explain what they had or how their camp worked or was set up. They just sent a response asking if she was inquiring for her male spouse or herself. They said our hunt is males only. Not our camp is not co-ed friendly. There is a difference.......and no I am not bent about political correctness, lol. I am just sad for her that this is the kind of response she received.

It's a hunt camp. Crappy customer service isn't surprising :). I've seen people denied access to hunt camps for a lot stupider reasons than that one. I bet that'd make an entire thread - stupid reasons people get denied access to hunt camps.

I hear ya!! And personally it is why I don't do the camp thing myself. I have been invited to a few and have never wanted to return . Some of the antics and bickering were so childish it was insane.

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, it's a well know fact that half the reason some guys go to hunt camps, is to get the heck away from women, for a short time!

A lot of wives would not be impressed by their men shacking up with an unknown female for 2 weeks...Not worth the grief. Just sayin.

Time to buy a used truck. Or even rent one...

Well i know the guy that would have sent her the email... I will talk to him.. please tell her I am sorry that he offended her! Even tho she is probably pretty pissed and won't care.
I do agree it's obviously not right the way if it was said if it was male hunters only...
Sometimes it's hard to mix a lot of ppl together ...
My wife does not hunt and is not interested at all and would be absolutely pissed if she found out that I was going out hunting with another girl!

Some girls are probably better hunters then most men... Just saying!
Sorry to hear about your friend! I hope she can find another place to hunt that she will enjoy soon!

Thanks! I hope so too!! she is a great gal with an awesome sense of humour and can shoot like a house on fire!!

Thanks for the support guys (at least the non-narrow minded ones)

I can understand wives getting ticked off about their husbands hunting with women, although it wouldn't bother me.

I think the add should have been clearer on the type of camp it was. ALSO the response could have been a little more classy.

I will be back out next year with a bunch of guys who like hunting with women.

D.
