Muzzle breaks

I understand they're not allowed in F-Class though I read if they were covered completely (nullifying the effects of the break) they were OK?
I've been looking but can't find where I seen it, anyone have any ideas on the matter?

The only reason I'm curious is because I'm considering one but not sure and want to use it for both recreational shooting and competition.

Better not to chance it, as the rules are quite clear that they are prohibited; and there is nothing mentioned about covering them. If you want/need a break get a removable one like a Badger FTE.

A brake can be very hard on the guy beside you. And in F-Class there is always another shooter beside you. If you were shooting a big caliber, a brake would be brutal on the other guy.

A brake with covered ports will still offer a degree of recoil reduction as you are providing chambers for the gas to impinge on before exiting. Not much but still there.

If the "cover" were to break? Yeah, not much fun

Covering a multi chamber muzzle attachment - doesn't that sound like something Canadians are not allowed to own?

In my experience, more often than not, it's frowned upon at F-Class matches especially if the match is being shot from a covered firing point.

Rules say not permitted period. Always been interpreted as not allowed on a gun regardless of whether it is covered. I know of a couple of guys that just unthread theirs

Just get a thread protector made for it when you get it put on. Muzzle break off, thread protector on. Easy.

More noise/disruption and redirects the gases, residue and dust(depending on the range) pretty much right at the shooters face on either side.

best is to be able to take it on and off as suggested.

It is a ICFRA/DCRA/NRA UK rule. They are fine for Precision Rifle events but not F Class or TR events. No reason for everyone on the range to suffer with the noise and blast because the real nancy boys can't put up with a little recoil

Hehe turnabout is fair play yeah, I don't dig the recoil, but if a brake means I'm gonna be flinging gravel and crap at other people, that'd be pretty impolite to say the least. Thankfully I got a spare ratchet and mines a bolt-on so it's a piece of cake to take on and off.

They are not used in TR because the additional ferrous metal interferes with pacemakers ;-)
