Just got a new rifle and researching loads for target and future varmint hunting. I'm looking at Hornady VMax 55 gr bullets to start. Any powder and load suggestions ?

Thanks!

Accuracy Load: H380/ 38.0grs. 3500fps/ 1496ft. lbs.
Hunting Load: RE-15/ 35.3grs. 3600fps/ 1582ft. lbs.
From the Sierra Manual.
There are some loads shown that exceed 3700 fps.
Nosler list 39.5 grains of H380 at 3723.

What is the twist rate on your barrel. If you have the slow twist barrels you may be limited or constrained to light weight bullets. After determining your twist rate then have a look at the berger site for suggested twist rates to help in your decisions.

Thanks! Its a Winchester Model 70 Coyote Stainless. 24" barrel with 1 in 14" twist.

I use VARGET with 50gr nosler BT's if I dont want to save hides..in 22-250..a good emergency ammo, fairly cheap ...good accurracy is Walmart 40 rd white box 22-250..I think they put out a 40gr bullet at 4000 fps...instant bang flop...works real good

loads for 22-250

I have loaded thousands of rds for vmax 43 gr using Varget. Deadly accurate. I go to South Dakota each year Prairie dog hunting with these loads and have great results.

55 gr v-max's and 41 grs of H-380 or 35grs of IMR4895 both give me great groups with the h-380 averaging a little better of the two.

55 gr sierra blitz Kings.. and Varget! my dads tikka and my CZ550 shoot the same load.. its .5 over listed max... very accurate... i also have tryed 40gr v max.. great on coyotes.. many taken to 400 yrds between dad and i guns.. no issues with killing... i just like the 55.. more accurate Varget is the powder i use and will never stray
