So...I just bought a P226R from Al Flaherty.

I was wondering about several things...

Apparently mine is made in Germany, and they stopped exporting these to Canada?

Can anyone give me some insights on the German P226R? Reviews and opinion?

Thanks so much!

My local club just got a shipment of the German made P226's today (very lightly used). I also just got a German made one a month ago and love it. Its my first pistol and so far no issues. Mine has been upgraded with the SRT trigger kit, E2 grips and Trijicon night sights.
You made a good buy! I'm sure you'll enjoy!

Ohh okay, I had a feel of the gun and they do feel really good!! I don't think I'll make any mods yet til I got about 1000 rounds through it....haha

Congrats! I just joined the P226 club last week myself. Mine was made in 'merica though, but so was my Sig 1911 and never had a hiccup, knock on wood. :p

my German p226 arrived brand new yesterday, since a fellow range member let me try his 2 weeks back I've been on the hunt. the dealer even though not a site sponsor was the friendliest and easiest to work with, 5 business days from purchase to in hand... that's a new record for me. Enjoy your new purchase I wont get to shoot mine for 2 weeks just enough time for another paycheque to make its way to a dealer for more 9mm ammo.
To the OP did you get the mec gar magazines or genuine sig ones?
I thought the USP would be my goto but not anymore...

The p226R is fantastic. I have a 'murican made one and I love it. I've heard the German made ones are better quality and judging by how mine is I can only imagine how good yours is! Congrats!

My german SIG proof marks almost looks like little spades. One on the slide, barrel, and one on the frame. Mine is from 2010 and some of the differences vs. The ' murica models is an internal extractor and a 2 piece folded slide (Supposedly better balanced???) as opposed to the 1 piece milled slide and an external extractor with the ones from the USA.
I have also heard the finish is a bit more rugged as murica banned some chemicals that the German folks apparently don't mind using still. But I'm not sure if that is correct or not.
