T97 - High mounted optic zeroing

You do realize that you are using a flashlight holder for scope rings right?

Yeah...I know..It was part of the VOMZ scope/Pic rail/scope mount(flashlight holder)/223 laser boresighter combo from Corwin Arms....

So went to the range to sight in the VOMZ scope on my T97......

This is at 50m shooting from a bench....The first five rounds formed the group off the target on the lower right....I over adjusted and shot the three round group on the top left...I adjusted again and shot the seven round group in the rings........Then I went to town and this is how the target ended up.....

Next went to the 100m range....and these were the first five shots(one off the paper somewhere).....this is with no adjustment coming from the 50m range....

Then put more rounds on target at 100m...no adjusting at all....

Overall Im very happy with the results....The scope held zero throughout the day and the clarity of the glass was excellent.....

Hey you think that optic and mount would work on my T97 with this rail I got from Reliable Gun?

Wouldn't mind having the option of a little further reach with this rifle.

Hey...Ive never seen that little mount before....That's kinda cool....Doesn't look like it would work with it though as the rail is back against the rear sight and as you see my scope is attached to the rail close to the front of the carry handle.....It would probably mount on your rail but the scope would probably be to far back..I ordered my setup as a combo from Corwin Arms www.corwin-arms.com The combo included: the pic rail/VOMZ scope/scope mount/.223 laser boresighter...All for $187+tax+shipping....It was around $220 shipped to my door...Great deal...They also have a different version of the scope that's just a straight tube design...that one might work with your existing rail as I think you could put it into the mount at different positions on the scope.....But for the price of the combo its worth it to buy and use that rail.....

Okay I am going to try and thanks.

Hey no problem....Let me know how it works out for you....The only thing I was worried about is cleaning since you cant take the top plastic handguard off with the scope and mount attached...But I cleaned my rifle today and you can leave it on and still clean it properly....Just push the handguard back and it moves enough to be able to get the gas plug and piston out...It was definitely a relief as it would have sucked to have to take the scope and rail off everytime you clean it......

So I caved in and bought iSnipe for iPhone for $15.

I am a bit confused, using a sight height of 4.5 - 5" With him M193 spec ammunition(such as Nork surplus) with a zero at 50 yards at 100 yards there should be a rise in the flight path of 3.5" whereas with your pics, snips , there appears to be about a 4" drop.

I suppose there could be a couple of variables. If you're shooting off a bench unsupported there's the possibility of a slight flinch causing your shots to land a bit low.

I thought zeroed my rifles at about 50 yards off a sandbag when I took it out too 100 and had my shots land about 6" high (I miscounted in my op) but looking at the pics of my 50 yard zero, it looks as if I was actually about 1" low at 50 yards. Interesting.

harbl...I don't have the answers either....I shot both 50 and 100m from the bench...I didn't use a front rest I basically rested the bottom of the pistol grip on the bench and that's it....Also I didn't use Norc ammo....I used a mixture of Winchester white box FMJ and Fiocchi FMJ.....I definitely didn't adjust the scope at all after zeroing in at 50m....The VOMZ scope is 3.5/20

Oh, I'm not blaming or accusing you of foul play at all, I just find the science to ballistics fascinating. I'm sorry if I came off conformational or accusatory, such was not my intent.

No worries....I didn't take it that way at all....Now Im curious with my results as well....Next time Im at the range Im going to try it again...This time Ill use Norc ammo and also use a front rest and see what happens....Ill post another range report.....

I had a Magpul cheek rest for the MOE/CTR stock lying around so I put it on my T97.....More cheek weld and less chin weld...And I like how it looks to....
