My SKS purchases in the past 2 months...

Here are the four SKS's that I purchased in the past 2 months, and to think I paid less for these 4 premium carbines than for my POS Kel-Tec Sub 2000 carbine! Never again.

1949 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) --- all matching metal in its original finish with a proper arsenal fitted laminate stock. A mild refurb.


1950 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) --- all matching metal in its original finish with a nice tight fitting recycled hardwood stock. With exception of the nicely blued bayonet, this one has all the features you would find on a 1949. A mild refurb. [middle]

1952 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) --- all original, non-refurbished.
(Try finding a non-refurbished 1952 in excellent condition). :)

1953 Russian SKS (Izhevsk arsenal) -- all original, non-refurbished, unissued, unfired [front, gun locker]

All four are in IMMACULATE condition. :redface::p

Don't feel bad, I own more SKS's than the four photographed above. It's hard to resist buying these fantastic carbines at these bargain basement prices. Every time I see a "cheap" modern rifle in the $500-600 range I always snicker, as they have NOTHING on an SKS.
 
With the exception of the M305, I'd have to agree with you. SKS is a stout shooter, definitely the deal of a lifetime.
 
Oh what the hell... here are a few more of my cherished Ruskies...

1952 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) -- all matching metal in an olive green Arma-coat finish (thanks to CGN Murdoc) sitting in a tung oil refinished blonde laminate stock (now sold). This one doesn't win an beauty prizes, but is 100% corrosion resistant and great for the jeep! [top]

1951 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) -- all original, non-refurbished, unissued, unfired (debate that fact all you like, I know better). This one is so immaculate, there isn't even a microscopic blemish on it! Specially hand-picked by CGN weimajack for me. :) [middle]

1954 Russian SKS (Tula arsenal) -- all original, non-refurbished. Another unspoilt beauty. This was from CGN weimajack's personal collection (his personal shooter) and is my overall favourite SKS as it is from the original early 2008 IZH import. :) [bottom]

Another photo of my pristine 1951 Tula (top), plus two laminate refurbs that are now sold. Note the tung oil finish on the bottom 1954 Tula SKS. That one turned out to be pure eye candy. Sold to a very happy camper! :)

You missed out on a wicked deal from Nechako Outdoors - they were selling that bottom one in my last set o' pics for $200, taxes and shipping included in that price with a hard plastic rifle case....making the rifle like $120

Well, actually no. I paid $1200 for my Kel-Tec S2K, but it came with every tacticool doo-dad known to mankind, plus a nice reflex sight (that now sits on my Ruger 10/22 takedown).

Take off all the expensive and largely useless tacticool non-sense, and yes, you're left with a $600 POS.

That is the ONLY rifle (of MANY) that I have sold over the years that I fully REGRET selling. Dumb Dumb Dumb. Aside from the fact that I paid quite a bit to have it parkerized and Arma-coated by Murdoc, I spent alot of time refinishing that stock. The new owner won't sell it back to me :(

Yea, I didn't tell you, but I had to skip out quick to change my underwear after seeing that. Man, what a beautiful piece of wood that is.

On a somewhat related note, you get your Johnson fixed yet? :D ...so much innuendo, so little time.

No, Sledge bought my Johnson off me - she needs a lot of work and he's got her as a project gun now. I'm hoping he posts some pics of her in action after he gets her up and running asain

My M305 wouldn't group better than 2.5 inches at 100 yards and I was expecting better. I was happy to get rid of it (at a steep loss). You must have an exceptional one.

It was pretty though, and it had a nice USGI stock, amoung other upgrades (yeah, that's an SKS sling on it) ...
