What scope did you put on your M305?

Back from my LGS

Vortex Diamonback 3-9x40 acquired within my budget.

Now i would get myself an M14.ca CASM mount but they say they are sold out on their website for a couple of weeks :(
 
Sorry to sorta high jack your thread 1leggeddog but I also recently got an m305 and was taking a close look at the "Bushnell Legend Ultra-HD 3-9x40mm". I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Is it worth the $160 price tag? (I believe they normally go for $200 but one of the site sponsors has them on sale right now)

That doesn't seem to be a bad choice SniperInTheMaking. Its part of their Legend line so its above the budget "Trophy" Line. And for that price i don't think you can go wrong!

Mine was at an 80$ rebate from normal 290$.
 
I had a Bushnell with the BDC and after 175 rounds the M305 shook two of the lenses loose. Yes, it did go back to Bushnell and I did get a new one, but it also took 6 months to get that new one.

I now have a 3-9x40 Leupold that was on sale as a demo unit (in your price range)I bought from site sponsor P&D. So far it has lasted over 1500 rounds and counting on the exact same mount and rings that the Bushnell had been mounted on. I wouldn't put a cheap scope on the M305 again.

I have one of them on a .22LR AR upper: be sure to read the box because the salesperson I bought it from told me it was a 100yard paralax and it turned out to be a 75 yard paralax.

It works well on the 22LR semi action: don't know how one would fair on the M305....
 
Dang, i thought my father's .303 was bad with its scope but the M305 sounds like its just as bad.

I better not skimp on the rings...
 
My cheek riser is not available in canada (see post #26 from this thread on page 3). From all the ones I've seen, it's one of the best. it's rigid, tailored for the M1A/M14 platform AND, you don't have to drill the stock ! 90$+ship from ''Bradley Cheek Rests''
 
On my Vism scope, it has a finishing ring on the far end, I guess it has option adapter rings for sun shades. Well the ring keeps untightening and then eventually flying off the scope after so many rounds. For now on I have left the finishing ring off. A little embarrassing losing parts while shooting. Allot of kick from firing the M305.
 
I had a Sightron 3-9 that I put on my rifle. It's their lowest-priced scope (think it cost me less that $200). I've had no problems with it. I pulled it off the other day and am waiting to my CASM mount to arrive.

Just a quick question.
What scope mount were you using on this rifle?
Was it made out of Aluminum or Steel?
 
ARMS 18 Mount and ARMS 22 30mm rings, all steel, with Delrin scope diameter reducers as the scopes are 1". The scope on there now, the Leupold, is the exact same set-up with the ARMS 18 mount never being removed.

I have only used the ARMS 22 levers to remove the scope once: the one time when I was out in the field and I heard the lenses rattling in the scope. I used the levers for what I wanted them for: get it off of there when a scope failure occurred! I do well enough with irons out to 200meters.
 
I know you want to use your irons and use a scope but it's just not really realistic. You see the CASM M14.ca mounts for good reason. The newer ones have a peep or aperature in them. They are in my opinion the only way you can use both. Most scopes once you mount them the objective housing will sit too low and you'll have to bottom out your aperature anyway (if you do it right) rendering the irons useless unless you take the scope off...or unless you have Kentucky windage down to a sience. If you mount it high enough to use both then...it's probably way too high to get any kind of a cheek weld. I use a SADLAK mount with low TPS TSR 30mm rings and a mid size scope (4.5-18). Mind you with quality components like that I can take my rings and scope off as an assembly, use the irons and then replace them and still hold zero within reason. Even if you go with a lower power, say 1-4 your objective is still going to be roughly the same size.
 
Lol elcan...hate them. They would turn me off to scopes if I was a new shooter too.

If you want a scope just get a low powered Leupold VX-2 and put it in low rings. It's at the upper level of your price point, but well worth it my mind (i've had more issues with cheap scopes than i care to recall).The best bang for the buck that I have ever seen. Eye relief is pretty forgiving on them which is probably what's turning you off...unfortunately there's no real inexpensive mount. I got my SADLAK on the EE here for about $200...keep an eye out.

I decided to scope 2 of the 3 Socom 18, got 2 # 18 steel base for them, 2 of the 4 optics will find their way on the Socoms... JP.
 
I've been searching for scope mounts and they are either dirt cheap (NC Star for like 50$)

Or super expensive (300$+ for aircraft grade aluminium or even titanium.. wtf!)
