Importer / reseller has responsibilities too.... China factory is their subcontractors. Far from being the problem of the consumer...
Its like if Asus denies you a laptop warranty because their subcontractor didnt weld the CPU correctly on the motherboard... Or take something that does not affect the function, the screen has dead pixels or is all scratched up.

I'm not a T97 owner, but I can't understand what the issue is here... yes there is a small 'gouge' in the barrel... does it affect performance? Accuracy? Reliability? My guess is NO on all three.
Yes it 'sucks' to have a slight flaw in your rifle... but to me it's like 'machining marks' on the inside of my Norinco shotguns... who gives a @&$^? It's a cheap, fun, bullpup rifle... and as far as I know there is no ISSUE caused by this small mark, other than aesthetic (looking down the gasport much?). Is the gun going to blow up? Does it make it shoot like crap?
Maybe I'm missing the point (as I'm sure many will point out!) but if I bought one of these rifles, I could give two hoots about this gouge.

If you bought a $1000 iPad that was manufactured for Apple in China by Foxconn and it had dead pixels and a scratch on the back.....
What would you accept?? Apple saying we have identified the issue at the factory that the product is functional and safe. No actions will be taken.

my guess is that it has to affect performance accuracy reliability to some degree, there is no chance that a barrel with drill mark will perform better than without. Flame on!
maybe without hole it would have shot 1 moa!!

If the scratch was on the INSIDE of the case, and I couldn't see it except looking through the charging port, no, I wouldn't care.
Norinco knew about this issue when it happened and still decided to let these gouged barrels pass through quality control. North Sylva represents us as customers to the manufacturer, and I'm not happy with them accepting a "solution" of we tested them and they are safe/ don't hurt the function of the rifle.
I would have liked to have been made aware of the gouge in the barrel before I bought the rifle and have the option of "living with it".
I knew I was buying a norinco product but didn't expect them to let some thing like this to pass.

No, it is a $1000 rifle. Twice as expensive as a M305 and more than many entry level ARs.

If it were on the inside of the glass and visible, you would care. If it could reasonably be expected to affect the durability of the product, you would care. If it demonstrated that there was shoddy engineering and quality control, you ought to care. A man (or woman or child) put a tool through the barrel wall and into the rifling and it was deemed good to go. That ought to scare anybody.
I do have one and couldn't agree with you more.
I'm not worried about it at all.
Shoot it and be happy...there are bigger things in life to worry about : )

Sorry - my gun snobbery is showing. My other bullpup is a NR FS2000.
Either way - comparing it to an ipad is a bad comparison to begin with... dead pixels/scratch on the glass is NOT THE SAME as a gouge in the barrel, no matter how you want to slice it.
this is the type of answer a person would give when they know they are sh-t out of luck. a just suck it up kind of attitude... i can understand that but if it was a company that cared about the end user it mite not be the same answer.
i couldnt imagine one single costumer accepting any flaw from a reputable maker like armalite, KAC, colt, ect, ect.
but when norinco does it its "ok".
No, it's a $300 POS made by the lowest bidding factory in CHINA that you paid $1000 for in hype tax.
It's a knock off of a QBZ-95 which in turn is a bad knock off of other service bullpups.
A horribly thought out third world gun.
Next time, pass on the $5 Rolex or at least wait to see if your friends $5 Rolex lasts more than a week before he bins it.

What about the larger, deeper hole directly above the gouge? You know the one the gas goes through? Are you worried about that one affecting "performance accuracy reliability to some degree"?
